おやき作ったよ Made Oyaki

これはおやき。私が育った長野県地方の料理です。

This is called Oyaki which is a local cuisine in Nagano region where I grew up.  

やっぱり時々食べたくなるのですよね、でも面倒で作らなかったんです。でも、や〜っと数週間前に作りました。一番大好きなのは茄子と味噌の餡。

Sometimes, I have a craving for this, but I was always too lazy to make them.  However, I finally made some a few weeks ago.  My favorite filling is Miso paste and eggplant. 

伝統的にはおやきは灰の中で焼くんですけど、もちろん我が家では無理。なので、オーブンで焼きました。美味しかったですー。実は思ったより結構簡単で時間もかからなかった。もっと頻繁に作ったらいいんだよね。。😂

 Traditionally, Oyaki is cooked in the ashes of an open fire, but it's not possible at home.  So, I cooked them in an oven.  They were very good.  It was actually very easy and didn't take much time.  I should make them more often!😂

3月の挑戦 March challenge

今日は3月1日。今日は新しい事始めるのに良い日だな。それで、決意した。余りにも長い間何の運動もしていない私、自慢している場合じゃない。今月は運動プログラムを開始する事に決めた。

Today is March 1st.  Today is a good day to start something new.  So, I came up with a decision.  Because I haven't done any exercise at all for a long time and I cannot be too proud of it.  I have decided to start an exercise program this month. 

今月の挑戦は。毎日少なくとも３０回のスクワット。😁 さて、1日も欠かさずに出来るかな。とりあえず1日目は完了💪
This month's challenge is 30 squats minimum every day.😁 Let's see if I could be so disciplined for the next 30 days.  1st day is completed💪

自然の酵母 Natural Yeast

 久しぶりにりんごから自然の酵母を作ることにしました。

It's been a long time since I've tried to make natural yeast with an apple.

 ただりんごと水と蜂蜜を少し瓶に入れるだけ。

Just need to put some apple slices, water and honey in a jar.

便に蓋をして数日放置。泡が見えてきました。これは発酵のサイン。

Seal the bottle and leave it for a few days.  Starting to see some bubbles is a sign of fermentation.

ジャジャーン。発酵が活発に’進んでいます。

Ta-dah.  Fermentation is very active at this point.

出来上がったフルーツ酵母にコナと塩をまぜて。

Mix the fruit yeast, flour and salt.

パンが焼けました。

Baked bread.

どうしてか気が付いた Now I Know Why

どうしてブログの投稿が減ったか気が付いたんです。ブログに写真やビデオを載せる代わりに、フェイスブックやインスタに載せる様になったからです。だから、両方のアプリをディバイスから削除しました。これからこちらの投稿が増えるかな？そしてこんな美しい夕焼けを味わう時間も。

Now I know why I post less on this blog.  It's because I started posting photos and videos on FB and Instagram instead of posting them here.  Now I deleted both apps from my devices.  Hopefully, I will update this blog more often and have more time to embrace the beauty such as this sunset.

もう2月 & 恵敏のお誕生日。 Already February & Kevin's Birthday

またまたアッと言う間に時は過ぎ、投稿が。。

Again, time flew so fast and I haven't been able to post much. but..

この可愛い男の子は、昨日2月4日で22歳になった恵敏です。本当に可愛いなぁ〜！

This cute boy, Kevin turned 22 yesterday on February 4th.  He is adorable!

今はとってもハンサムな若い青年。今年の6月で大学を卒業します。

Now he is a handsome young adult.  He will be graduating from a university this June.

2020年。明けましておめでとうございます。A Happy New Year. 2020

 皆様、明けましておめでとうございます。昨年はブログをかなりサボっていましたが、今年は少し頑張ります。今年もよろしくお願いします。この新年は家族がアメリカ、日本、ドイツとバラバラでした。でも、テクノロジーのお陰で、こうしてビデオ電話で家族写真を撮る事が出来ました。

Hello, everyone.  Happy New Year!  I was quite lazy about updating my blog last year, but I will try to be more diligent this year.  This new year, our family members were away from each other in different countries, one in USA, two in Japan and two in Germany.  Thanks to modern technology, we were able to take this photo using video calls.

今年新しいもの。 Something new this year.

 車を新しくしました。会社が借りてくれている車ですけど。

We got a new car!  It's actually leased by company.

 私が見えますかー？この車もなかなか良いですよね。私にぴったり！
Can you see me?  This car is really nice, too.  It's perfect for me!

このベンツのショールームは とても大きくて、た〜〜〜〜くさん素敵な車が！
This Mercedes showroom was very big and there were so many nice cars!!!

そして全てがとっても秩序良く並べられていて、とっても気持ち良かったです。
Everything was so orderly and I loved it!

 それから、今日1月4日は、理輝の25歳のお誕生日です。25歳だなんて信じられない。本当に素晴らしい紳士に成長している彼を見てマミもダディもとっても嬉しいです。
And today, January 4th is Riki's 25th birthday.  I cannot believe he is 25 already.  Mommy and daddy are so happy to see him growing into an amazing gentleman.
