ドイツに戻って着ました Back in Germany

先々週の日曜日からミュンヘンに帰っています。今ここの天気は素晴らしい。

 I am back in Munich now since two Sundays ago.  The weather here now is wonderful.

 私がここにいない間にベランダの先の屋根上の庭が雑草だらけ。

While I was away, the roof garden just off my balcony was filled with weeds.

大きな袋２個に雑草ぎゅうぎゅう詰め。

Two big bags full of weeds.

腰は痛いけど綺麗になった庭を見て大満足。

My back is aching, but seeing nicely cleaned up garden is satisfactory.

成長中 Growing

我が家は４階建てのアパートの最上階。バルコニーからいつも美しい夕焼けを楽しんでいます。バルコニーの先の屋根には多肉植物がたくさん植えられています。

Our home is on the top floor of four story apartment.  I enjoy beautiful sunset from our balcony.  The roof next to the balcony is filled with succulents. 

 最近は雨がよく降るので、多肉植物の成長が早いです。
Frequent rain we have these days is helping succulents grow fast.

 庭仕事が大好きな私、何か植えたいなーって誘惑にかられていたんです。だから、まいちゃいました。種。
I love gardening and I've been tempted to plant something here.  SO, I did.  I sew some seeds.

最近の雨のおかげで芽が出てきました。成長しています。小さくって可愛い。見える？
Recent rain helped the seeds to sprout.  And it's growing.  It's tiny and cute.  Can you see?

トマトと薩摩芋の葉っぱ Tomato & Potato Leaves

これが日本に行っている間２ヶ月ほって置かれた私の野菜畑。

This is my vegetable garden being left alone for two months while I was in Japan.

なんとトマトがとっても元気に育っていました。このプチトマトはとっても可愛い。

To my surprise, tomatoes were growing well.  These mini tomatoes look so cute.

それから、食用の薩摩芋の葉っぱも元気に育っていました。これは炒めて食べるととっても美味しいんです。
And the potato leaves for cooking were growing very well too.  These taste really good when stir fried with garlic.

花盛りー！In Bloom~!

色んな色のマツバギクが咲いています。オレンジ、ピンク、赤に黄色。

Different colors of ice plants are blooming.  Orange, pink, red and yellow.

 この花を見た事をある人は少ないでしょうねー。何だと思いますか？これは小豆の花です。
Many of you probably have never seen this flower before.  What do you think this flower is?  It's a red bean flower.

 これはアロエの花。夜空に開いた花火みたいですね。

This is Aloe flower.  It looks like a firework in the night sky.

 こちらはホウレンソウの花。This is spinach flower.

 これはルッコラの花。This is arugula flower.

 これは紅はこべ。雑草ですけどその花はオレンジ色でとおーーっても可愛らしい。
This is scarlet pimpernel.  It's a weed, but its orange flowers are so cute!

こちらは芽を出したばかりの赤ビーツです。

This is red beetroots just starting to sprout.

多肉植物園回り Visiting Succulent Gardens

テメキュラの今の天気はとっても心地よいですー。出かけなくちゃもったいない！で、友達と一緒に多肉植物園めぐり。

The weather in Temecula is so comfortable now and there is no reason why not to go out, so I went along with a friend to visit succulent gardens.

可愛いアレンジを見てたら庭仕事をする気が湧いて来たー！

Looking at pretty arrangements inspired me to do more gardening!

これなんだか良くわかんないけど、気に入った。これ見てると笑いたくなるし、気楽にいこうぜーって気になるー。
I don't know what this is, but I somehow liked this guy.  It makes me laugh and reminds me to take it easy.

ヤシの葉 Palm Leaves

 庭師さんがしばらく来てないので、自分でヤシの木を剪定しなくてはなりませんでした。
The gardener hasn't been coming for a while, so I had to trim the palm tree myself.

 あまりにもヤシの葉が綺麗で捨てるのには惜しかったので、何かしなくちゃという気持ちに駆られました。
The palm leaves were too beautiful to just throw away, so I had to do something with them.

 とにかく、編み始めてみました。

I just started braiding.

そしてこんな物が出来上がりました。

Then, I ended up with this.

これが後ろ姿。

This is how it looks from the back.

 そして、ちょっと可愛らしいお花で色を付けてみました。

Then, I added some color with cute flowers.

家の中の可愛い飾りになりました。

It became a charming decoration in the house.

里芋 Taro Potato

 里芋の葉っぱがとっても大きくなってずいぶんになるので、ほってみる事に。
It's been a while since Taro potato leaves had grown so big, so we've decided to dig out potatoes.

 たけちゃんがほってくれました。

T.K. helped digging out.

 一袋３ドルくらいで買った里芋。そのうちのいくつかを植えたら、倍以上になった！さてここで全部を食べきらないで少し残して植えてまた収穫して食べる。。自給自足の法則でしょうか？！
I bought a bag of Taro for three dollars and planted a few in my garden, then the Taro multiplied.  Now, if I don't eat them all after harvest and leave some for planting, then I could harvest some more and eat...  This is the law of self-sufficient living?!

シンプルに茹でて食べました。とっても柔らかくて美味しかった。

Taro potatoes were simply boiled and eaten.  They were so soft and delicious.

多肉植物 Succulents

お友達から何種類かの多肉植物を頂いたので、家にあるものと合わせて寄せ植えを作る事に。

A friend gave me a few different kinds of succulents, so I decided to make a succulent arrangement using hers and some from my garden.

なかなか可愛く仕上がってとってもハッピ〜！

The finished arrangement looks really cute and made me happy!

雑草抜き Weeding My Garden

 二ヶ月ほど留守している間に、庭の雑草も野菜もずいぶん成長していました。

While I was gone for almost two months, the weeds and vegetables in my garden had grown a lot.

テメキュラは、日中は暑くても、夕方はとても涼しいので、昨日の夕方、庭の雑草抜きを頑張りました。どうですか、綺麗になったでしょう。ちなみに、最高気温３０度前後で最低気温は１５度前後。
The evening in Temecula is very cool and comfortable though it's quite hot during the day, so I worked hard pulling all the weeds out in the evening yesterday.  I think the garden look much prettier.  FYI, the temperature in Temecula, the highest is around 85F and the lowest is around 60F.

ただ今、ジャガイモ、ビーツ、ルッコラ、紫蘇、レモングラス、トマト、スイスチャードなどが必要な時にいつでも収穫可能な状態です！
I now have potato, beetroot, arugula(salad rocket or rucola), Shiso, lemon grass, tomato and Swiss chard ready to harvest anytime when I need them.

春が来た。Spring has come.

 

このところとても暖かくなってきたので、庭には色んな色の綺麗な花が咲いています。人参、ナスタチウム、パンジー、ワイルドフラワーの芽が出て来ました。

It is getting really warm lately, and variety of colorful pretty flowers are blooming in my garden.  Carrots, Nasturtiums, Pansies and wild flowers are sprouting.

左の写真はあずき、ビート、ミニトマト、スイスチャードの芽。右の写真は、花の咲いたルッコラ、超ミニトマト、ネギとニンニクです。

On the left are red bean, beetroot, tomato, swiss chard's sprouts, and on the right are arugula flowers, tiny tomatoes, green onions and garlic. 

ジャガイモ収穫 Harvesting Potatoes

台所に置いていたジャガイモに芽が出てしまったので、畑に植えたのは数ヶ月前。

It was a couple monthes ago, I planted potatoes in my garden because some potatoes in my kitchen pantry sprouted.

葉っぱが枯れていたので掘り起こしてみたら。。

Since the leaves wilted, I tried digging up..

 小さいジャガイモが３つ！こんなに簡単にジャガイモが育てられるなんてびっくり。

I found three small potatoes!  I am quite surprised how easy it was to grow potatoes.

隣にはミニトマトがなっていました。

There were some snack tomatoes next to potatoes.

庭仕事 Gardening

 最近のテメキュラの天気は最高です。最低気温は５度以下ですが、最高気温が２５度位。散歩を始める朝の気温はちょっと寒いのですが。１時間歩いて家に帰る頃には気温も上がって身体もポカポカです。
The weather in Temecula now is perfect.  The lowest temperature is around 37F and the highest is around 80F.  It's slighty cold when I starts my walk in the morning, but the temperature goes up and my body gets warm by the time I get home after one hour walk.


今日は散歩の後に庭仕事を２時間もしました。雑草を抜いて、畑のまわりに石を並べました。緑の葉っぱはルッコラ。
I worked in the garden for two hours today after the walk.  I weeded and laid stones along the edges of my garden.  The green leaves are arugula.

苺も大きくなって赤くなって来てまーす。

Strawberries are growing and turning red.

鉢植えも作りました。

Potted some flowers and plants.

There are many other flowers blooming.
