鳥のさえずりクラブ! Bird Singing Club!

 散歩の途中で、またまた面白いもの発見。こちら「BIRDSINGING CLUB/鳥のさえずりクラブと訳してみました。。。」です。
I found again something very interesting during my walk.  It's "BIRD SINGING CLUB."

 あるおじさんがちょうど車で到着。鳥かごを車から出しました。
An uncle just arrived by a car and took his birdcages out.

鳥籠の中の水受けに水を注いだ後、広場に行って、自分の鳥をかける支柱選び。
After he filled the water containers in the cages with water,  he walked to the field and chose poles to hang his birdcages up.

 鳥かごがあちらこちらに沢山かかっていました。
There were so many cages up there everywhere.

 おじさん達は、クラブのメンバー。朝６時７時位から来て、午後１時くらいに帰るそうです。座って話をしたり、近所の市場の食堂でご飯を食べたりだそうです。
Uncles were all members of this bird singing club.  They said they would come around 6 or 7am and stay there sometimes until 1pm.  They would sit there and chat and go out to eat lunch at nearby hawker centers and etc..

本当に沢山の支柱が立っていて、沢山の鳥籠がかけてありました。鳥達がとても綺麗に歌っていましたよ！

There were so many poles and may many birdcages up there.  And Birds were singing beautifully!!

鳥籠の中の鳥は、チョウショウバトというのだそうです。おじさんが言うには、４０年位も生きるそうです。この鳥、我が家の周りでも時々見かけます。
The birds in the cages are called Zebra Dove.  An uncle said that this bird can live for about 40 years!  I see those birds around my house sometimes.

マカロン Macaroon

えらく長い間ベーキングをしてなかったんですけど。昨日はチョコレートマカロンを作ってみました。とても良い感じにしあがりました。材料は、卵白、グラニュー糖、アーモンドパウダー、粉砂糖。卵白が１００グラムなら、他の材料も全部１００グラムずつ。そして今回はココアパウダーをたっぷり。フィリングはチョコレートクリーム。美味しー。ちなみにこれはお友達への手みやげ。
I haven't done any baking for a long time.  But I made some chocolate macaroon yesterday.  It turned out really good.  Ingredients are egg white, granulated sugar, almond powder and powdered sugar.  If egg white weighs 100g, rest of the ingredients also 100g each.  I added a lot of cocoa powder this time.  And I used Nutella for filling. Yum.  Actually, those were gift to my friend.

モロヘイヤ Mulukhiyah

こちらの大きい葉は、以前に埋めた里芋。いつ収穫すべきなのかしら？
This big leaves are from Taro roots I buried a while ago.  I don't know when to harvest.

金曜日の午後はとても天気がよかったので、これらの種を蒔きました。

Friday afternoon was a beautiful sunny day, so I planted those seeds in my garden.

何日で芽が出るでしょう？なんて投稿するつもりだったのに、とろとろしていたらなんと日曜日の朝にはもうモロヘイヤの種の芽が出ていました。あまりの早さにびっくり。
I was going to post an article about planting seeds and was going to say, "How soon those seeds would sprout?" But I was too slow to post it and by Sunday morning, Mulukhiyah sprouts were out already!!  I was quite surprised by the speed.

バナナの花。Banana flower

これはバナナの花です。バナナの花ってこんな風に咲くんですね。一度も見た事がありませんでした。すごく面白くて感動です。散歩に行くと色んな新発見があって楽しいです。
This is banana flower.  I never knew how it blooms.  I've never seen one before.  It's very interesting and I am quite impressed. When you take a walk, you encounter many new discoveries and it's fun.

買い物 Shopping

私は食料品洋服関係なく買い物があまり好きじゃあありません。必要に迫られないと買い物に出かけません。今日はちょっとだけ買うつもりで買い物に出かけたのに、気がついたら２時間も経っていてびっくり。

Whether for food or cloth, I don't like shopping that much.  I don't go shopping unless necessary.  Today, I went shopping just for few items.  And I couldn't believe I was there for almost two hours.  

アメリカから引っ越しの時に、コスコで買ったトイレットペーパーを沢山送ったので、今までシンガポールでトイレットペーパーを買った事がありませんでした。トイレットペーパーって、とっても沢山ブランドがあるんですよね。毎日使うものですから、なるべく柔らかくて、強くて、経済的なものを探していました。結構な時間、そこに立ってトイレットペーパーを眺めていたと思います。

When we moved from US to here, we shipped a lot of bathroom tissues we bought from Costco.  So, I didn't need to buy any of them in Singapore until today.  There were so many different brands of bathroom tissues.  Since we use them every day, I was looking for something soft yet strong and economical.  I think I was standing there looking at bathroom tissues for a while.

それから、最近続けて電球が悪くなり、替えのものを買わなくてはなりませんでした。これまた最近は電球も色んなものがあり、省エネとか、LEDとか、そして形も様々。。。あれこれ見ていたら、またここでも時間がかかってしまいました。

Then, I had to look for light bulbs to replace the old ones recently went bad one after another.  Nowadays, there are so many different kinds of light bulbs such as Energy Savers, LED etc. and different shapes, too.  Again it took me a while to decide on which ones to buy.

そして、ケビンに頼まれたデオドラント。。これがまた、色んな匂いのものがあるんですよねー。腕のあちこちにスプレーしては匂って、スプレーしては匂って。。最後には匂いがごちゃ混ぜでした。でも、なんとかケビンが好きそうな２本を選択。あっという間に時間が過ぎていました。

Then, I had to guy deodorants for Kevin.  Again, there were so many different brands and fragrant.  I sprayed them onto my arms and smelled and sprayed and smelled over and over.  In the end, all the fragrant were mixed up.  But I managed to choose two that I thought Kevin would like.  Time went passed very quickly.  

最後に少し食べ物も買って、薬局に寄って家に帰りました。あーー、疲れた。

At last, I bought some food, stopped by at a pharmacy and came back home.  I was so tired.

歯列矯正 Orthodontics

水曜日の午後にケビンを矯正歯科に連れて行きました。そして矯正器具をつけられました。痛いらしく食事がなかなか思うようできません。２年後くらいには綺麗にそろった歯の写真を投稿できる事と思います。
I took Kevin to an orthodontist on Wednesday afternoon.  He got his braces on that day.   Now it's hurting him and he is having hard time chewing and eating.  Maybe in two years, I should be able to post a picture of his beautifully aligned teeth!

マンゴ Mango

 こちらは全部マンゴ。微妙な色の違いがわかりますか？３種類のマンゴがお皿にのっています。それぞれ味も香りも微妙に違います。この３種類の他にももっと色んな種類のマンゴがあるんですよ。新鮮なマンゴを使って作られたマンゴプリンときたら最高ですよ！

Those are all mango.  Can you see the slight difference in colors?  There are three varieties of mangoes on a plate.  Each has it's own flavor and taste.  There are even more varieties besides those three.  Mango puddings made with those fresh mangoes are heavenly!
