汗だく! Drenched with sweat!

今日は朝から庭仕事。まずは、バラの移植。

Today, I worked in my garden since early morning.  First, I transplanted roses.

元気に育って沢山花を付けてくれると良いなー。

Hope they will grow healthy and have many flowers.

バジルやローズマリーや野菜を植える空き地が出来ました！

Now I got space for basil, rosemary, and other vegetable!

これらは、前の住人が置いていった植物。ぼさぼさでかっこわるいから、ちょっと散葉してあげました。チョキチョキ。。
Those are the plants that previous tenant left here.  They grew wild and didn't look very good, so I gave them a very nice leaf-cut.  Clip-clip...

 どうでしょうか？すっきりしたでしょう！

How do they look?  They look much better, don't they?!

これはブーゲンビリアの木。ちょっと切り過ぎました？大丈夫。この木の生命力を信じます。追って報告いたします。
This is Bougainvillea.  Did I prune too much?  It'll be OK.  I believe in the vital power of this tree.  I will do follow-up post.

所変われば、名前も変わる?! Different place, different name?!

先日、園芸店にお花を買いにいってきました。ここはとても大きいお店で、色んな植物やお花が沢山置いてありました。あれ？確かこれは『ポトス』。ここでは、Money Plant（お金の葉？）と書かれていました。どうして？と聞いてみたら。この植物は、とても強くて、いくらでも次から次と葉が出てくるから、そんな風にお金が入ってくるようにという事だそうです。面白いですね。
I went to a big nursery the other day.  This shop is very big and there were so many different flowers and plants.  What?  This should be called "Pothos," but here it's called "Money Plant."  I asked why?  They said just as this plant is strong and its' leaves continue growing and growing, people wish money will grow in the same way.  Very interesting...

 こちらは裏の玄関から出た所の裏庭。良ーく見ると。。

This is the backyard garden just outside the back entrance.  Look closely!

 

 ねぎ。いつでもあると便利。

Green onion.  It's handy to have it at hand.

こちらは、芥子菜。

This is mustard greens.

続「猿だ〜〜！！」"Monkey~~s!!" Episode 2

今日は珍しく写真がありません。写真を撮っている場合じゃあなかったんです。またこの間のようにエビ釣りに行ったら、餌のパンを目当てに、猿の大家族が本当にすぐ近くまで迫ってきました。あまりにも近かったので、すごく怖くなって帰ってきました。子供たちの棒の先のパンは食べられました。でも悔しかったので私のパンは魚達にあげるように貯水池の真ん中めがけて投げてきました。
Today's post is a rare one with no photo.  There was no time for photos.  We went to catch shrimps again, then a BIG monkey family with babies came SO close to us trying to steal our bread we used as bait.  They were SO close to us that we got scared and came back home.  The bread kids had on their sticks were eaten.  BUT, I was mad and didn't want them to eat my bread, so I threw it toward the center of the reservoir to feed fish.

猿だぁ〜〜〜！！！MONKEY~~~~s!!

 昨日は、友達とUpper Peirce Reservoirへ行ってきました。お猿の大家族に遭遇。赤ちゃん父母、おじいちゃんおばあちゃん、多分親戚までいたことでしょう。
A friend and I went to Upper Peirce Reservoir yesterday.  We encountered with a large monkey family.  They must be little babies, parents, grandparents and maybe relatives.

一匹のお猿さんが近くまで来たんですけど、さすがにフレンドリーな私も野生のお猿さんに挨拶するのは怖い。（もちろん餌が欲しくて近づいて来たんですけど）やっぱり下心があって近づいてくる者は拒否しますよね、人間に対してだってそうです。よね？！
One of the monkeys came close to us, but even friendly I was scared to greet the wild one.  He came because he wanted to get some food from us, of course.  It doesn't matter human or animal, when they get close to us with bad motive, we will refuse them, right?!

超楽しかった！！SO much fun!!

This is handmade fish nets and a stick with bread on.  Can you guess what we're going to do?

家から車で５分くらいの所にLower Pierce Reservoirという公園があります。ここで魚釣りやエビ釣りができるんです。先週の日曜日には沢山の家族がいました。だから、今日は私たちも挑戦。
Five minutes drive from home, there is a park called, "Lower Pierce Reservoir."  Here, you can do fishing and catch tiny shrimps.  Last Sunday, there were many family there.   So, today is our turn!

 見て見て！！捕まえたぁ〜〜！！！

 とっても可愛い！So cute!

 これは、隣で釣りをしていたおじさんが捕まえたもの。きれいな色でした。
This fish was caught by an uncle who was fishing next to us.  It had beautiful colors.

 小さい魚はおじさんからもらいました。本当にとっても楽しかったよ。絶対にまた捕まえにいくぞ！
The tiny fish was given by an uncle.  It was so much fun.  I am definitely going back there again!

さて。。 Let's see...

シンガポールの家に越してから、初めて食パンを焼いてみました。オーブン、粉、イースト、牛乳、そして部屋の温度もすごく違うからどうかな？と思いましたけど。。上手に焼けました！よかった。
I baked bread for the fist time since we moved into our house in Singapore.  I wasn't sure how it's going to be because I was using different oven, flour, yeast, milk and the room temperature was very different, too.  It turned out as good as always.  Very happy!
