ご飯６６杯 66 Bowls of Rice

今日は久しぶりに韓国焼き肉を食べに行きました。お肉もキムチも美味しかったでーす。

Today, we went out to eat Korean B.B.Q.  The meat and Kimchi  were all very good!

請求を見てびっくり！皆さんも請求書を良く見て下さい。６人お客。カルビ１、ブルゴキ１、などなど。。そして、Bab 66.  Babって韓国語で何の意味でしょう？「ご飯」と言う意味です。そう、ご飯を６６杯も注文したことになってたんです。そんなに食べられるわけないですよねー！！もちろんすぐに間違いとわかって直してくれました。

When we received the bill, we were so shocked!  Please take a look of this bill.  6 Pax, 1 Galbi, 1 Bulgogi etc..  and 66 Bab.  Do you know what "Bab" means in Korean?  It means "rice."  Yes, the bill said that we ordered 66 bowls of rice.  No way we could have eaten that much rice!!  They right away understood that it was mistake and they corrected it.

クリスマスプレゼント Christmas Present

クリスマスプレゼントにマッサージ椅子が届きました。サンタ役を無事に終えたお父さん、早速椅子を使用。お疲れさまー、リラックスして下さーい。
This massage chair was delivered as a Christmas present.  Daddy Santa who completed his task tried out the chair.  Job well done and now time to relax!

クッキー交換会とビーズ教室 Cookie Exchange and Beading Class

 こちらがクッキー交換会でもらってきたクッキーです。ざっと１０種類以上。どれも美味しかったですけど、かなり甘いー！アメリカのレシピはすごく砂糖を沢山使うのでしょう、それに加えてチョコチップとか入っているので、さらに甘い。皆さんのクッキーを食べた後、私の（日本のレシピ）クッキーを食べると、味があまりしませんでした。多分皆さん、秋子は砂糖を入れ忘れたと思うんじゃあないかしら？
Those are the cookies from the cookie exchange.  There were more than 10 different kinds.  They were all good, but very sweet.  The American recipes maybe use a lot of sugar and they add chocolate chips etc. to it that makes cookies even sweeter.  After eating everybody else's cookies, mine(Japanese recipe) was tasteless.  They must have thought Akiko forgot to put sugar in!

クッキー交換会と同じ日にビーズ教室もありました。このブレスレットその日に完成。すごく難しそうに見えるでしょ？でも意外と簡単でした。楽しい一日でしたー。

On the same day we had the cookie exchange, we also had a beading class.  I completed this bracelet on that day.  It looked very complicated, but it wasn't.  It was actually quite simple.  Oh, that day was a good day!

クリスマスクッキー Christmas Cookie

おかえり。 Welcome home.

よしあが帰ってきました。土曜日の午後にロサンゼルスを発って、月曜日、今朝５時半位に家に着きました。疲れと時差ぼけでしょう、まだ午後８時前なのにぐっすり寝てしまいました。
Joshua is back.  He left Los Angeles Saturday afternoon and arrived here this Monday morning around 5:30am.  He must be so tired and jet lagged, he was in deep sleep even before 8pm.

中国結び Chinese Knotting

中国結びのキットをクラフトショップで見つけたので、買って作ってみました。
I found this Chinese knotting kit in a shop, so I bought it and started working on it.

 中国結びって楽しい！！！

I love Chinese knotting.  It's so fun!

It's a shrimp!

 さて、作ったものの。。これをどうする？バッグにつけてみたけど。ビミョー。

Now, It's finished.  What do I do with it?  I put it on a bag, but it's not quite right...

 帽子につけてみた。悪くないけど、頭に海老？

I put it on a hat.  It's not too bad, but a shrimp on my head?

クリスマスツリーにつけてみた。これはかなり無理がある。
I put it on a Christmas tree.  This is most definitely not!

中国結びって作るのはすごく楽しいんだけど、作ったものをどうするかで困っちゃうんだよね。中国結びの海老、亀、♡、トンボなどなど。。どこにつける？
It's fun to do Chinese knotting, but quite often, I don't know what to do with the stuff I make.  Knotted shrimp, turtle, heart, dragonfly etc.  Where do I put them?

工作 Arts and Crafts

昨日は久しぶりに工作。教会の日曜学校の為に宝箱を作りました。工作って楽しいねー。
Yesterday was my arts and crafts day.  I made a treasure box for our Sunday school.  Arts and crafts is fun!!!

ねずみ？ A mouse?

なんだか、ネズミが来てパンのあちこちをかじって逃げたみたい。。。皆さんのお家にもこんな事するネズミがいますか？
It seems that a mouse came and had a few bites of every bread on the plate.  Have you seen a mouse like this in your house, too?

アロマセラピー Aromatherapy

今日は食パンを焼きました。家中がパンの良い香りでいっぱいになって、とっても癒されました。
I baked toast bread today.  Our house was filled with the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread and it was very healing.

こちらは近所の市場で買って来たコーヒー。ひきたてのコーヒーの香りは最高です。こちらの香りもやはりとっても癒される香りです。
I bought this coffee at the nearby market.  The aroma of freshly ground coffee was just so wonderful and it was very healing as well.

ここまで観察して、ちょっと目を離したら、もういなくなっていたー！カタツムリのスピードを甘く見ていた！あたしの方がとろかった〜〜〜！！自宅がどこか発見できず。。。
I observed him up to this point and went away a little while, then he was gone somewhere by the time I returned.  I underestimated the snail's speed!  I was too slow, slower than he was!!  I couldn't find out his home in the end....

クリスマスの飾り Christmas Decorations

 今年の我が家のクリスマスの飾りはこちら。もうこれでよし。

ライムジュース Lime Juice

 こちら、私のキムチ作りの先生、セーラさん。先日卸市場に沢山の白菜を買い出しにいった際に、喉が渇いたので、ライムジュースを購入。ジュースがどうやって出されてるか気がつきましたー？（ところで、彼女の笑顔素敵でしょ！）
This is my Kimchi master, Sarah.  We went to a wholesale market to buy a lot of nappa cabbage and we got so thirsty, so we bought some lime juice.  Did you notice how her juice was served?  (BTW, she has a beautiful smile, doesn't she?)

こちら、ライムジュース、シンガポール式。場所に寄ってはこのような感じで売っています。私個人的にはちょっとこの形式は好きじゃあありません。だって、何処にも置けないんですから。散歩の途中ですぐに飲み終わるつもりなら良いかもしれませんけどねー。
This is Lime Juice served Singapore style.  In some places, it comes in a bag like this.  I personally don't like it, because you cannot put it down anywhere.  If you are walking and intend to finish it right away then I think it's ok.

お味は？ Taste?

昨日作ったキムチを白いご飯と一緒晩ご飯にいただきました。美味しかったですー。この次は自分の好きなように甘さや塩加減などを調節して作ったら、我が家の味になると思いました。今回は私のお友達の家の味です。
We had some rice and the Kim Chi I made with my Korean friend yesterday for dinner.  It was delicious.  Next time, I can adjust the sweetness, saltiness and etc. in the way our family would like then I will have "the Chan's Kim Chi."  This one we ate was the flavor of my friend's family.

手作りキムチ Homemade Kim Chi

韓国人のお友達がキムチを沢山漬けると言うのでお手伝いに。お手伝いと言うより、キムチ作り教室って感じでした。
A Korean friend said she was going to make a lot of Kim Chi, so I went to help her.   It was actually more like a Kim Chi making class.

粉唐辛子が♡になってるー！

Chili powder is in ♡ shape!

 大根、ネギ、粉唐辛子、梨、ニンニク、ショウガ、砂糖、ナンプラー、水、塩が入っています。
Daikon radish, green onion, chili powder, Asian pear, garlic, ginger, sugar, fish sauce, water, salt were in the bowl.

 一晩塩水に浸けた白菜に大根のミックスを挟んでいきました。
We stuffed radish mixture between cabbage leaves which were soaked in salt water overnight.

じゃじゃーーん。１日置いたら食べられまーす。明日が楽しみーー！
Tada~!  Let it sit for a day then we can eat.  Looking forward to tasting it tomorrow!

最後の一つ The last one

シンガポールに引っ越してからかれこれ１年４ヶ月。引っ越す前に沢山トイレットペーパーやジップロックバッグ、ペーパープレートにペーパーカップなどを買って他の引っ越し荷物と一緒に送りました。これは最後のコスコのトイレットペーパー。間に買い足してはいましたが、これからはいつもこちらのを買わなくちゃ！どのブランドのが柔らかくて強いかしらー？
It's been a year and four months since we moved to Singapore.  I bought a lot of bathroom tissues, Ziplock bags, paper plates and cups etc.  and shipped them with all other moving stuff.  This is the last roll of bathroom tissue from Costco.  I did buy some from local stores sometimes, but now I have to buy them here all the time.  I have to find out which brand's is soft and strong.

蟻さん Ants

あらら、床に落ちたジュースの跡を蟻さんに見つけられちゃった！

Oh no, ants found the juice stain on the floor!!

どうやら、この蟻さん達は、外から入って来たらしい。家の中にあったジュースの跡をどうやって見つけたんだろう？すごい！ちょっと調べてみたらこんな答えが。。彼らは常に食べ物を探してあちこちをうろうろしているらしい。。。
It seems that they came in from outside the door.  How did they find out the juice stain inside the house?  I found some answer here on the web.  They seem to have a "search party" out there somewhere all the time....

全部の蟻を殺す事もないので、お目当てのジュースを綺麗に拭き取ったら、いつの間にか皆さん他の場所へ移動したようです。
I didn't need to kill all the ants, so I wiped their treasure/juice stain off the floor, then they all moved to somewhere else.

収穫 Harvest

 見て下さ〜い。我が家のゴーヤがとても立派に育って、今日初めて収穫しました。
Look, look, look!!!  Our bitter melons grew very well and we had the very first harvest today.

ゴーヤを使って、晩ご飯にゴーヤチャンプルを作りました。美味しかったです！
I used the bitter melons to cook "GOYA CHAMPURU" for dinner.  It was delicious!!!

クリスマス？ Christmas?

 こちらは、シンガポールの銀座とでも言いましょうか。オーチャード通り。今月に入ったらもう通りはクリスマスの飾りが。
This is downtown Singapore, Orchard Rd.  The street is already colorfully decorated for Christmas since the beginning of this month.

 とても綺麗ですけど。。。早過ぎません？

They are beautiful, but isn't it a bit too early?

 ちなみに、今日の最高気温は３１度。最低気温は２５度。夏です〜！
FYI, today's highest temperature was 88F and the lowest was 77F.  It's summer~~!!
