白衣授与式 The White Coating Ceremony

 今日は啓安の医大入学式と言いましょうか、白衣授与式でございました。
Today was Joshua's White Coating Ceremony.

 ２８０人の医学生が一人ずつステージに上がり、白衣を着せていただきました。
Two hundred and eighty medical students went up on stage one by one and were coated with their white coats.

 会場は喜びで満たされていました。

The theater was filled with joy.

 式の後は軽いランチをいただきました。

Light lunch was served after the ceremony.

 それからキャンパスツアーに参加。

Then we took a campus tour.

 彼の名前はケン。本当に良くできていて、学生さん達はこの人形でいろんな医療技術を練習をするそうです。
His name is Ken.  He is so well made and students practice all sort of medical procedures.

 こちらは整体の教室。

This is the room for osteopathic manipulation class.

目的地到着 Arrived at Destination

 月曜日の朝カンザス州マンハッタンを出発して最終目的地のミズーリ州カンザスシティまで２時間の運転。真っ平らでまっすぐな道。アメリカ広い。
We left Manhattan, Kansas on Monday and drove two hours to our final destination, Kansas City, Missouri.  Such a flat and long straight road.  America is huge.

 これがよしあがこれから行く医大。

This is the medical school that Joshua will be attending.

 こちらが学校の近くにあるよしあのアパート。

This is his apartment, which is very close to the school.

 やっと最終目的地のアパートに到着。

Finally arrived at our final destination, his apartment.

ここ数日間は荷ほどき、買い物、家具の組み立て、整理整頓やお掃除に追われていました。ビフォーアフターの写真を見てくださいね。

 We were busy unpacking boxes, going shopping, assembling furniture, organizing, and cleaning for the last few days.  Please enjoy the before-and-after photos.

 整頓されてると気持ち良い。私整理整頓大好きです。出張しますよ。

 Feels good when things are organized.  I love organizing stuff.  I will come to your place.

 ちょっと緑を加えたら良い感じ。

A touch of green makes a place look nicer.

 母はクタクタ。I was exhausted..

 カート山ほどの買い物。。 A cart full of shopping.

 冷蔵庫もいっぱい詰めて整理整頓。

Refrigerator is packed and organized.

お部屋のあちこちにちょっとだけ植物を投入。

Added some green plants here and there in the rooms.

ロードトリップアップデート Road Trip Update

 木曜日にアリゾナを出発。このサボテンの風景が大好き！

We left Arizona on Thursday.  I love this view of cactus.

 ニューメキシコ州に入った！ Entering the state of New Mexico!

途中綺麗な景色がたくさんありました。

There were many beautiful views on the way.

 ７時間半の運転でサンタフェに到着。

We arrived Santa Fe after driving seven and a half hours.

金曜日は朝早くサンタフェを出発。途中オクラホマ州を通過。

We left Santa Fe on Friday early morning.  We passed through a part of Oklahoma state. 

 そしていよいよカンザス州に突入。

And we reached the state of Kansas.

 カンザス州今週は超暑い。It is so hot in Kansas this week. 39C=103F

 そしていよいよ夫と私が出会ったマンハッタン到着。サンタフェからここまで１０時間の運転でした。流石に疲れました。
And we finally arrived at Manhattan where my hubby and I first met.  It was about 10 hours drive from Santa Fe to here.  We were exhausted.

 夫が卒業した大学。私も少し授業を受けました。

This is the university my hubby graduated from.  I took some classes, too.

 私達が住んでいた夫婦用の学生寮。

This is the dorm for married couples where we lived.

今はこんなに綺麗。

Now it looks so much better.

最終目的地のカンザスシティ、ミズーリ州まではここから２時間ほどの運転です。よくここまでたどり着きました。

Our final destination, Kansas City, Missouri is about two hour drive from here.  We made it so far.

ロードトリップ Road Trip

啓安の引越しの手伝いでアメリカ訪問。

Visiting America to help with Joshua's move.

ルフトハンザ航空機内食。ベジタリアンミール。

Vegetarian meal with Lufthansa airline.

こちらはインディアンベジタリアン。

This is Indian Vegetarian meal.

引越しの旅はまず、ロサンゼルスの啓安のアパートからスタート。そして最初のストップはテメキュラ。こちらはワイナリーでお友達とランチをした時に撮った写真。

Our moving trip started from Joshua's apartment in Los Angeles.  Our first stop was in Temecula.  This picture was taken at a winery where we had lunch with friends.  

テメキュラからアリゾナまでは６時間弱。

A little less than six hours from Temecula to Arizona.

アリゾナのボーダーに到着。

アリゾナにいるって思う瞬間。暑い。42度。

This is the moment I know I am in Arizona.  So HOT.

蚤の市 Flea Market

ミュンヘンでは毎週末に何箇所かでとっても大きな蚤の市があります。私もとうとう蚤の市行ってしまいました。宝探しみたいですごく楽しいんですけど、気を付けないと必要の無い物まで沢山買ってしまいそうです。。。以下がここ２回の蚤の市で買ったものです。
There are some big flea markets in Munich every weekend.  I finally started going one and truly enjoying the feeling of treasure hanging.  However, I know I must be very careful not to buy more than what I need.  Followings are what I bought at the last two visits to markets.

 郵便物の重さを測るもの。カードを立てるところもついている小さいお皿？なのかな。。本当は何に使うんだろう？両方で1.5€。あ、指輪は私のです。
There is a postal scale.  There is a small saucer with a place to hold a card.  I actually don't know what this tiny saucer is used for.  I am curious.  Both together, 1.5 euro. FYI, the rings are mine.

 手書きのドイツ製プレート６枚で１１€。カップは５個で１€。
Hand painted glass plates, 6 for 11 euro.  5cups for 1 euro.

ショットグラスと受け皿っていうのかな。。2.5€。お花を飾ってもいいし、甘いもの入れても良いし、色々に使えそう。

Shot glasses with holder for 2.5 euro.  I am thinking of putting some flowers or some sweets etc.

成長中 Growing

我が家は４階建てのアパートの最上階。バルコニーからいつも美しい夕焼けを楽しんでいます。バルコニーの先の屋根には多肉植物がたくさん植えられています。

Our home is on the top floor of four story apartment.  I enjoy beautiful sunset from our balcony.  The roof next to the balcony is filled with succulents. 

 最近は雨がよく降るので、多肉植物の成長が早いです。
Frequent rain we have these days is helping succulents grow fast.

 庭仕事が大好きな私、何か植えたいなーって誘惑にかられていたんです。だから、まいちゃいました。種。
I love gardening and I've been tempted to plant something here.  SO, I did.  I sew some seeds.

最近の雨のおかげで芽が出てきました。成長しています。小さくって可愛い。見える？
Recent rain helped the seeds to sprout.  And it's growing.  It's tiny and cute.  Can you see?

ドイツで一番高い山。Highest Mountain in Germany

え？もう7月？え？もうミュンヘンに引っ越して１年？！　時の過ぎるのが早い。

What? It's July, already?!  What?  It's been a year since we moved to Munich?!  Time flies so fast.

先月義理両親と啓安が３週間ほどここに来ていました。おかげで今まで行った事のなかった場所に行く機会が与えられて楽しかったです。こちらはドイツで一番高い山。ツークシュピッツェ。
Parents-in-law and Joshua were here last month for about three weeks.  It gave me opportunities to visit new places I've never been and it was fun.  This is at the highest mountain in Germany, Zugspitze.

私たちはこの駅まで車で行って、そこから登山電車でケーブルカーの駅へ。そして、そこからケーブルカーで山頂へ。
We drove to this train station and took this cogwheel train to get to the cable car station, then took a cable car to reach the summit.

こちらアイプゼー湖。とーっても美しい！！

This is the Eibsee Lake.  It was beautiful!!!

ここからケーブルカーで山頂へ。

We took a cable car from here to the mountain top.

まだまだ結構雪が。Still see some snow.

山頂到着。でも向こうに金の輝く物がある場所が。頂上にちがいない。行かなくちゃ！

Arrived at the summit.  But I saw a spot with shining gold behind us.  That must be the peak. I had to go.  So, I went.

登山準備完了。Prepared myself to climb.

頂上までの道は距離はなかったのですが、かなり危険な道。ちょっと心臓パクパク。唯一の頼りは岩に打たれた鉄のワイアーとこのはしご。

The trail wasn't long, but it was quite dangerous.  My heart was beating a bit faster.  Only support was  metal wires bolted onto the rock and this ladder.

啓安も誘ったのに断られた。後で彼がこの掲示板見せてくれた。そこには「登山経験と登山用具が必要」と書いてあった。。

I asked Joshua to come, but he rejected the invitation.  Later he showed me this sign that says, "Alpine experience and equipment required."

達成感で最高な気分！ Felt a great sense of accomplishment!

正直結構怖かった。。私が見える？

Honestly, it was quite scary.  Can you see me up there?

でも景色は素晴らしかったー。But the view was spectacular.

殆ど歩く事なくドイツで一番高い山の山頂まで行けちゃうのが良い。

It's so nice that the summit of highest mountain in Germany is accessible without much walking.
