新しいお友達 Got a New Friend

今日は4月28日です。今は春。なはず。。なのにどうしてこんなに雪が降るのでしょうか？
Today is April 28th.  It's SPRING.  It supposed to be... Then, why do we have so much snow lately?

昨日朝起きた時の外はこんな。

This was how it was outside in the morning when I woke up yesterday.

今朝起きたらまた雪が降っていて、３センチ位積もっていました。いい加減もう雪見ても興奮しませんが、ここまで来たらもう楽しむしかないと、雪だるまを作りました。
I woke up to snow again this morning and it was about an inch deep.  I no longer get excited about snow, but I thought I should rather enjoy it than being fed up with it.  So, I made a snowman.

まずはこれを作りました。でもちょっと怒っている感じだったので。

Initially, I made this one, but it looked angry.

サングラスと顔の表情を変えました。

So, I changed its sunglasses and its facial expression.

午後になったら雪が雨に変わったので、傘を貸してあげました。明日にはお日様が出る模様。そしたら、ビキニでも貸してあげましょうかね😜

In the afternoon, snow turned into rain, so I let it borrow my umbrella.  We might have sunshine tomorrow, then maybe I could let it borrow my bikini😜

ヒナギク English Daisy

この花めっちゃ可愛いでしょう！！！とにかくとっても面白いデザイン！ヒナギク家族の一員らしい。何かに似ていると思うんだよね。なんだと思う？
This flower is so cute and its design is so unique.  I believe it's a member of daisy family.  This reminds me of something...  What do you think?

雲丹やマカロンや化粧のパフとか思ったけど。やっぱりこれだなー！和菓子。
I thought of sea urchins, macaroons, or powder puffs, but I think this is it!  Japanese sweets.

4月に雪😱 Snow in April😱

昨日の朝起きたらなんとビックリ。雪が降っていました!

We had a big surprise yesterday when we woke up in the morning.  It was snowing!

ちょっとだけって言うんじゃなくって、本当に沢山！

It wasn't just a little bit of snow, it was a lot!

これは昨日の時点の予報。予報通り、今日水曜日も雪でした。明日も本当に降るのかな？冬物全部洗濯してしまったから出したく無い。。。😰
This was the weather forecast yesterday and it really did snow today as it said.  Is it really going to snow again tomorrow?  I don't want to take winter clothes out as I already washed and put them away....😰

布ぞうり Japanese Cloth Sandals

 布ぞうり、ずう〜〜っと作りたかったんです。本も買っていたんです。でも、何年も本棚に置きっ放だったんです。でも、とうとうその時が来たんです。
I had been wanting to make cloth sandals for a long time.  I bought this how-to-book long time ago.  It was sitting in a book shelf for a long time.  But, the time had finally come.

 先月テメキュラに帰った時に、お友達のFumieさんが教えてくれました。私の為に材料まで全て用意してくれていました。ありがとう〜！😘
When I went back to Temecula last month, my friend, Fumie-San showed me how to make them.  She even had prepared all the materials for me.  Thank you~!😘

テメキュラでは完成させられなかったのですが、数日前にやっと完成し、履くところまでこぎつけました。とっても心地よくて、ナイスです。達成感です！😊
I couldn't finish them in Temecula, but I finally completed them a few days ago and got to wear them.  It feels so comfortable and nice.  Feeling accomplished!😊

屋根の上で庭仕事 Gardening in the Rooftop

こちらは我が家のベランダ。フェンスの向こうは結構広くって多肉植物が沢山植えられています。

This is our balcony and behind the fence, there is a big area where many succulents are planted.

このところの雨と暖かい天気で、雑草が沢山成長してしまい、私は見ていられなくなり😂
Because of recent rain and warm weather, many weeds started to grow and I couldn't ignore them.😂

フェンスを越えて草むしりをすることに。

I'd decided to go over the fence and pull the weeds. 

お日様浴びての庭仕事は気持ちよかったです。作業の後は、バルコニーでお日様の下大好きな昼寝。太陽の暖かさを感じ、鳥のさえずりや風の音に耳を傾けていたらとてもリラックスしました。

I felt so good to do gardening outside in the sun.  After the hard work was my favorite nap time in the sun.  Feeling the warmth of the sun and listening to the sound of birds and wind were so relaxing.

ルバーブ Rhubarb

ルバーブがお店に出始めたので早速買って来て、私の大好きなデザートを作りました。
I started seeing Rhubarb in stores, so I bought some this week and made my favorite dessert.

カナダにいたお友達からいただいた大好きなレシピです。

One of my favorite recipe that I got from a friend in Canada.

 まずはベースを焼きます。

First, bake the base.

次にフィリングを混ぜてベースの上に流します。 

Then, mix the filling and put it on top of the base.

 焼けてる焼けてる。。。いい匂い~!

Being baked...  Smells so good!

これ本当〜〜〜〜に美味しい！皆んなにも分けてあげたいわー！

This tasted SO good!  Wished I could share this with you all!!

ミュンヘンで染井吉野 Somei Yoshino in Munich

数日前お友達が染井吉野が見られる秘密のスポットに連れて行ってくれました。あまりに美しい桜に感動して写真を沢山撮りまくりました。そしていつまでもそこを離れたくない気持ちでした〜。

A few days ago, my friend took me to a hidden spot where we could see Somei Yoshino (The most popular variety of cherry blossom in Japan.)  I was just so touched by its beauty and took thousands of pictures.  I felt like I never wanted to leave that place.

あまりの喜びにジャンプ！

I jumped for joy！

ちなみに、私が最後に日本で見た桜がこれ。仙台に住んでいた時ですから、２０年以上前です。これはタケちゃんの両親が孫に会いに来てくれた時に撮った写真です。

FYI, this is the last Sakura, cherry blossom I saw in Japan.  It is more than twenty years ago when we were living in Sendai.  This photo was taken when T.K.'s parents came to see grandchildren there.

 近所の桜、今日は満開でした。

Sakura in my neighborhood was in full bloom today.
