やった〜〜〜！！ Yeah~~~!!!

も〜〜〜〜、超ほっとしています。どうして？年に１回のお琴のおさらい会が無事に終わったんです。めちゃくちゃ緊張ぉおぉおおおおして、倒れるかと思ったよ。何回も間違えちゃったけど。。。結果よりも、参加した事とこの日の為に費やした努力と時間そして無事目的達成した事に意義あり \ (^_^) /

YEAH~~!!!!  I'm feeling a great relief.  Why?  I survived our annual KOTO recital.  I was SO so SO nervous that I thought I would faint.  I made many mistakes, but ..... well...  participation,  effort, time spent for this day and accomplishment are way more important than the result. \ (^_^) /

フランスパンだよ。French Bread.

写真の事でがっかり。。MacBookにがっかり。。。Apple社にがっかり。。。
ちょっと気分を盛り上げる為にベーキング。今回はシンプルなフランスパンです。材料はイースト、塩、砂糖、水、薄力粉に強力粉。オリーブオイルとバルサミックビネガーをつけたり、ハーブバターをつけてトーストして頂きました。美味しかった。
I was so disappointed that I lost photos, so disappointed at MacBook, and so disappointed at Apple.
To bring up my mood,  I did baking.  I baked simple French bread this time.  The ingredients are yeast, salt, sugar, water, all purpose flour and bread flour.  We ate some with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and some we put herb butter, toasted and ate.  They were good.

消えた！！！ Disappeared!!!

何が消えたと思います？！！あまりのショックに顔が歪んでしまいました。私のコンピューターに保存してあった全ての写真が一晩でどこかに消えてしまった！ゴミ箱にもどこにもない！！夏までの写真はバックアップをしてあったのでセーフ。マックのお店にコンピューターを持っていって見てもらったけど、コンピューターには何も問題ないって。。。じゃあ写真はどこに行ってしまったのぉ〜〜〜！！！誰も削除してないよ！
昨夜消えたショックでがっかりして寝ていたら、ケビンが。。「マミ大丈夫だよ。ここにいる僕たちが生きた写真だからさ。。。」だって。。本当に泣かしてくれるよ。。可愛い息子！最近は何もかもデジタルで、全てはデータ、目に見えないもの。。。写真だって、株だって、契約事だって。。。データが消えたら何も手元に残らない。。ちょっと考えさせられた。。。

What do you think disappeared?!!  I was so shocked that my face got deformed.  ALL the photos in my computer disappeared overnight!  They were not in the trash, not  anywhere on my Mac.  All the photos up to June were saved on CDs, but the rest were gone forever.  I took my computer to a Mac Shop today and had it checked.  Nothing's wrong with my computer and they didn't know what went wrong.  Then, where did my photos go?!!!  Nobody deleted any files.   We didn't do anything!!!
I was so shocked and sad in my bed last night, then Kevin said to me, "Mommy, it's OK.  We are the LIVING PHOTOS."  He was so sweet and made me cry.
Everything is in digital nowadays and they are intangible....photos, stocks, contracts etc..  once the datas are gone, we got nothing in hands.  I had many thoughts.....

税金申告 Tax Return

アメリカでは２月から４月の間に、自分で税金申告をしないといけません。今までは主人に任せていたので、税金のことなんて何も知りませんでした。でもこれではいけないと思い、先週２週間で６日間のセミナーに参加。分厚い教科書と宿題、そしてテスト。４５歳を過ぎたこの頭で新しいことを学ぶのはそれは大変でした。しかも英語で、そしてアメリカの税金申告は複雑！途中であきらめようと思いましたが、それも悔しいと思い、珍しくちょ〜真剣に勉強に励み、テストにパス。来月からいよいよ実践が始まります。
In US, people must file their own tax returns by mid. April.  My husband has been doing that for us and I had no idea about income tax.   I realized this is not good, so I attended a 6-day seminar during the last two weeks.  I received a thick textbook, workbook, and test book.  It was very challenging to learn new things at my age with the hard-to-retain-anything kind of brain in English.  It was so complicated!!  I nearly quit at some point, but I didn't want to give up!!!  I studied hard, really hard (O_O) and I passed all the test in the end.  (^_^)  YEAH!  My volunteer job as a tax preparer will start next month.

我が家の子供たちは生まれて今までに２回位しか美容院へ行ったことがありません。ティーンエイジャーになった今も私に切って欲しいと言ってきます。ヨシアは来年から大学生。いよいよ寮生活となると自分でちゃんと床屋さんに行けるようにならないといけませんね。

My children probably had been to hair salon only once or twice since they were born.  Even after becoming teenagers, they still want me to give them haircuts.  Joshua is going to college after summer and will live in a dorm.  He must learn to go and get his haircut done by professionals.  (^_^)

昼寝 A nap

今日のテメキュラは最高気温が２７度。とっても暖かくていい天気でした。

Today's highest was 79F in Temecula.  It was such a warm beautiful day.

事件の現場ではありません。ポカポカ陽気に誘われついつい裏庭でお昼ね。お日様が疲れた肩や腰を温めてくれました。気持ちい〜〜！
This is not a crime scene.  Tempted by sunshine and warm air, I decided to take a afternoon nap in the backyard.  My tired shoulder and back were heated and healed by the warm sunshine.  Felt so good.(^_^)

 あれ？影が迫ってきた。どうりでちょっと寒くなったと思ったんだよね。あれれ？隣に誰かも寝てる。。。け。び。ん。。。
Oh, no...  the shade was approaching...  No wonder, I was starting to feel a little cold.  What?  Somebody was sleeping right next to me....  K.  E.  V.  I.  N.

追伸：お昼寝によしあの５分間マッサージが付いていたのを書き忘れました。最高〜！
PS:  I forgot to mention about the 5 min. massage done by Joshua during the nap.  Awesome!

食パンのレシピ Recipe for Sandwich Bread

匿名さんから先日私が焼いたパンのレシピを教えてというリクエストがありました。こちらです〜！お試しあれ。ところで匿名さ〜んあなたはだあれ？メールでこっそり教えてね(^_^)

"Anonymous-san" asked me to post the recipe I used for sandwich bread I made the other day.  Here it is!  Try and see.  BTW, who are you, Anonymous-san?  

強力粉(Bread Flour)　３２０g              

砂糖(Sugar)　２０g                         

練乳(Condensed Milk)　１０g

塩(Salt)　４g

バター(Butter)　４０g

牛乳(Milk)　２３０g

ドライイースト(Dry Yeast)　４g

(210x10x11cmの1.5斤型)

200度余熱～約30分焼成☆ Bake at 392F for 30min.

ちなみに、パンの焼きの基本はご存知ですよね？！

寒い！ COLD!

この冬はいつもの年よりずっと寒いと思います。子供たちが裏庭で氷を見つけました。早く暖かくなってほしいなぁ〜。
I think this winter is much colder than previous ones.  Kids found ice in backyard.  I wished the weather would get warmer SOON!

皿洗い Washing the dishes

今朝皿洗いをしていたら、洗い物たちがこんな表情を見せてくれました。なんて可愛いんでしょう！私が作ったわけじゃありませ〜〜ん。
I was doing the dishes this morning and the dishes gave me this charming face.  Isn't this cute?!!  I didn't make this..

食パン型 Pullman loaf/Pan De Mie pan

昨日のパンはこちらの食パン型を使って焼きました。アマゾンで33.62ドルで買いました。なんとアメリカ製です。10x10x33cmで日本の食パン型よりずっと小さいです。
I used this loaf pan to bake the sandwich bread yesterday.  I bought it from Amazon for $33.62.  It's made in USA, wow!!  Its size is 4x4x13inch and much smaller than the ones they sell in Japan.

そしてこちらが昨日注文した圧力鍋です。圧力鍋は好きで以前はよく使っていたのですが、数年前の引っ越しの時にお友達にあげてしまいました。こちらはスイス製。届くのが楽しみです。何から作ろうかな？
And this is the pressure cooker I ordered yesterday.  I like pressure cookers and I used to use one quite often before, but I gave it away to a friend when we moved a couple years ago. This one is made in Switzerland.  I cannot wait to receiving it soon.  What shall I cook first?

食パン Sandwich Bread

初めて角形食パンを焼いてみました。日本にいたらおいしい食パンが買えるので、自分で食パンを焼こうなんて絶対に思うわけがないのですが。。。アメリカの食パンは美味しくない！パンを沢山食べる国なのに、どうして美味しくないの？と。。まあそれは良いとして。初めてにしては、なかなかのできと満足しています。でも、かどっこがもうちょっとちゃんと四角になるようにこの次は頑張るぞ！

I baked a loaf of sandwich bread for the first time.  I would never think of baking one myself if I was in Japan as I can buy a variety of tasty breads everywhere there.  The sandwich breads in US are not so good, well this is a personal opinion.  They're maybe good, but I prefer the ones in Japan.
Anyway, this bread looks pretty good for the first time and I am quite happy.  Next time, I would like to see the corners be a bit sharper than this one,  so I need to figure out how I achieve that.

パンがさめたので、早速スライスして食べてみました。外はカリカリ、中はしっとりふわふわ。少しだけ甘くてミルキーで、めちゃくちゃ美味しいです！！

Bread cooled down, so I sliced a piece and tasted it.   Wow, this is SO good.  The outside crust is crispy and inside is very soft and moist.  It tastes slightly sweet and milky.  I love it!!

理輝１６歳 Riki is 16.

今日は理輝のお誕生日です。彼は日本の仙台で生まれました。その日は雪で、私達は「マイライフ」という映画を見ていました。映画の主人公の陣痛が始まり赤ちゃんが生まれるシーンになった時、私の陣痛も始まり病院へ駆けつけ、理輝が生まれました。映画を見終えたかどうかは覚えていません。それで、今週末皆でその映画を見ることにしました。

Today is Riki's birthday.  He was born in Sendai, Japan.  It was snowing that day and we were watching a movie, "My Life."  When the scene came to the point where the heroine went into labor and delivered a baby, my contraction started.  We rushed to a hospital and Riki was born.  I don't remember we finished the movie or not.  So, we are going to rent this movie and watch it this weekend.

アメリカもたった今２０１１年になりました。皆さん、今年もよろしくお願いします。年末に頑張ってお正月料理を作ってみました。いかがなもんでしょう？
It just turned to 2011 in US now.  Wishing you all the best for the new year!  I put a little extra effort to prepare this traditional Japanese New Year food(Osechi) yesterday.  They may not be so appealing to non-Japanese friends... (^o^) ??!!
