27年間私と共に働いてきた包丁が本日定年退職いたしました。いつからか、とても切れ味が悪かったのですが、捨てるのは可哀相で、ずっと我慢して使っていました。でも先日きんぴらごぼうを作った時、切れ味の悪い包丁のために四苦八苦。肩も腕も手首も指も痛くなり、この度とうとう新物採用の決意。新しく買った包丁は、それはそれは切れ味が良く、今までの20パーセントの力で物が切れます。ちょーらくちん。でも手を切らないように気をつけないと!
Today, the knife that had worked with me for 27 years retired. Its blade had been very dull for a long time, but I had been putting up with it because I felt sad to get rid of it. The other day, when I made "KIMPIRAGOBO", I struggled to cut burdock into juliennes. My shoulder, arm, wrist, and fingers were very sore, so I finally decided to get a new one. The new one I bought is SO sharp that requires only 20% of the strength I used to use to cut things with the old one. It's SO much easier. Now I'd better watch my fingers!
