山登り Mountain Climbing

長野には山が沢山あります。今日はその一つに登ってきました。見て！雪が残ってます。

There are so many mountains in Nagano.  We climbed one of them.  Look!  There were still some snow left. 

ロープウェイで日本で最も標高の高い(２３３４m）場所にある駅まで。そこからは登り続け。

We took a ropeway to the station with the highest altitude in the country 8,567.9ft. Then we kept climbing.

頂上に立っているつもり。。

We pretended we were standing on the mountain peak.

山の上の方がずっと涼しかったー。

It was so much cooler up in the mountain.  

チョコちゃん CHOCO

このとーっても可愛らしいひよこちゃん達は、３年前に姪っ子達の家にやって来ました。

Those adorable cute chicks came to my nieces' house three years ago.  

彼らの名前はチョコちゃんとバナナちゃん。

Their names were Choco and Banana.

悲しい事に、チョコちゃんが今日亡くなりました。チョコちゃんバナナちゃんは以前野生の獣に襲われました。そして、チョコちゃんは良きパートナーのバナナちゃんと２回もお別れをしています。何とか生き延びてきましたが、襲われ、パートナーをも失ったショックから卵を産まなくなってしまいました。そしてそれから後、病気になってしまいました。

Sadly, Choco died today.  Choco and Banana had been attacked by wild animals in the past and Choco lost her good partner, Banana twice.  She somehow survived, but she stopped laying eggs from  the shock of the attack and losing her partner. Later she became sick.

今は大きなイチョウの木の隣に眠っています。

She is now resting right next to a big Ginkgo tree.

こちらは、チョコとバナナのお家。

This is Choco and Banana's house.

残された３代目バナナちゃん、一人で寂しそう。。

The third Banana was left alone and looked lonely.

学校見学 Campus Tour

こちらは同志社大学。理輝がこちらの大学へ願書を出そうかと考えているので見学に行って来ました。

This is Doshisha University.  Riki is considering to apply to this university, so we went to visit the school.

教授の一人が学校内を案内してくれました。授業も受けさせてくれましたよ。

One of the professors gave us the campus tour.  He even let Riki take his class.

私は、古くて素敵なこんな建物がとても気に入りました。
I liked those beautiful old buildings.

 さすが京都ですね。学校のすぐ隣にお寺。そして、路を挟んでお向かいは京都御所でした。
It's so Kyoto that there was a temple right next to the university.  And just across the street was the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

もちろん、食堂もチェックしてきましたよー。結構美味しそうでした。
Of course, we went to check out the cafeteria.  They looked pretty good.

観光も少ししてきました。金閣寺と清水寺にいきました。
We did some sightseeing, too.  We visited Kinkaku-ji (above photo) and Kiyomizu-dera.

めちゃくちゃ蒸し暑い一日でした。たくさん歩いたのでちょっと休憩。お団子をいただきましたー。子供たちはかき氷。
It was a very hot and humid day and we had to take a little break after a long walk.  I ate some skewered sweet dumplings and kids had some shaved ice.

食べ過ぎたらこんなになっちゃうかしらーー？！ (x_x)

釣り！ Fishing!

今日は車で２時間位かけて、新潟県まで行き、日本海で魚釣りをしてきました。

We drove about two hours from home and went to Niigata to fish in the Sea of Japan.

ケビンの釣り業が一番でたくさん魚を釣ってました。

Kevin's fishing skill was the best among all and he caught so many fish.

私の業はまあまあでしたけど、釣りはめちゃ楽しんできましたよ〜！６時間があっという間でした。こちらはミニふぐ。

My skill wasn't so good, but I really enjoyed fishing.  Six hours went very fast!  This is a mini puffer fish.

赤ちゃんふぐがいっぱいいました。可愛くて面白い魚ですね。

There were so many baby puffer fish.  It's a very cute interesting fish.

この種類は１０匹位釣れました。

We got about ten of those.

そして、こちらの小さいアジは２００匹以上釣れましたよ。本当に楽しい一日でした。

And we got more than two hundred of those/horse mackerel.  We had such a great day.

沖縄旅行 Trip to Okinawa

 沖縄旅行からの写真を沢山のせてみました。青い海と空が綺麗でいいですね。
I am posting many photos from the trip to Okinawa.  The blue ocean and the blue sky are so beautiful and nice.

沖縄美ら海水族館は中も外もすっごく綺麗でした。

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium was very impressive both outside and inside.  

沖縄料理。色々食べましたーー！！！どれもめちゃ美味しかったです。海草類がとても豊富。アグー豚がすごく美味しかったよー！
We tried so many different Okinawa local dishes and they were were all so good.  They had so many different varieties of seaweeds which were all good.  We really liked the pork raised locally.

 このそばも美味しかったわー。海ぶどう（海草類）たっぷり！
Those noodle were delicious!

ゴーヤチャンプルー定食。ご飯は白いご飯をジューシーにかえてもらって。
Stir fried bitter melon set meal.  Requested to replace the plain rice for seasoned rice called Jyushih.

 沖縄でよく見るタコライス。面白いねー。
This is called Taco rice.  They use rice to make Taco instead of Taco shells.

 お魚も新鮮。Fish was very fresh.

 そうめんチャンプルー。これ美味しいね！！

Somen champuru, Stir fried noodle with tuna was really good!

ローカルドリンクも美味しー。

 ホテルでの踊りのショーも素晴らしかったです。衣装も綺麗。
The local dance show at the hotel was wonderful.  The costume was beautiful.

 これは、すっごく元気が出そう？な蛇のエキス入り焼酎？！ちなみに、私は飲みませんでしたよ。
This is an extra special drink as you can see.  This liquor with snake extract will surely give you a boost.  By the way... I didn't drink it.  

楽しい沖縄旅行でしたー。めんそーれとはいらっしゃいませと言う事らしい。
Okinawa trip was really fun.  

よく遊び、よく食べて、良く寝る！健康的な生活だー。
Play a lot, eat a lot, and sleep a lot!  Good healthy life style!

沖縄旅行中にこんなものを見つけました。なんだかわかりますか？私の沖縄人お友達ー！これってよく食べるー？

I found this during my trip to Okinawa.  Do you know what this is?  Hello, my Okinawa friends!  Do you eat them often?

良ーく見て下さい。わかりましたかー？豚の顔ですよ！鼻も耳も目もぜーーんぶそのまま。ちなみに。。私は写真を撮っただけ。買わなかったし食べてもみませんでした。美味しいのかなー？
Take a closer look.  Do you know what this is now?  It's big face!  Nose, ears, eyes, all together!!  FYI, I only took those photos.  I didn't buy it nor eat it.  I wondered if it's delicious..

折り紙 ORIGAMI

このフラワーアレンジメントの中に折り紙で作った花が２つ隠れていますよ〜！わかりますかー？
There are two flowers made with ORIGAMI paper  hidden in this flower arrangement.  Can you spot them?

可哀相な事件。。Unfortunate event..

シンガポールの家のダイニングの横のドアに挟まれて死んだやもりが発見されました。私はこんな事をした覚えはありません！誰かがドアを閉めた時にたまたまそこを通行していたんでしょうね。。何て運の悪いやもりさんなんでしょう。。。そして、これを片づけなくってすんだ私は超ラッキー.  \ (^_^) /
This gecko which is caught by the sliding door next to the dining area was found dead in our house in Singapore.  I don't remember doing this!  He must be trespassing when someone slammed the door.  What an unlucky gecko he is!  And what a super lucky ME that I didn't need to deal with this!!  \ (^_^) /

ど田舎にある実家。家の周りは大自然。色んな虫が家の中に入ってくるのはしょうがないと思ってますけど。蛙さん、あなたはちょっと勘弁して下さい！

My parents' house is in a very rural area and surrounded by nature.  I understand we cannot prevent  bugs from getting into the house, but .....  I am sorry, froggy!  You are absolutely UNWELCOME! 

ダイビング Diving

 初ダイビングです！私は耳も痛かったし、このところ閉所恐怖症傾向なのでやりませんでした。
This is their first diving experience!  I didn:t try it because I had earache and also I am a little bit  claustrophobic lately.

 すごく楽しかったそうです。They said they really enjoyed it.

あ、可愛いお魚とリキ！！ Look, such a pretty fish and Riki!!
