金婚式 50th Wedding Anniversary

今日は両親の５０年目の結婚記念日。先日ここに来た時に残していった母からのありがとうの手紙の一部を通して初めて知りました。その時いかに私が両親の人生を知らないかという事に気づかされました。もっと沢山話を聞かなくちゃ！

Today is my parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary. I didn't know that until my mother mentioned it in her thank-you letter which she left to us when they visited here last week. This made me realize how much I didn't know about their lives. I need to ask them to tell us more of their stories.

レモンクッキー Lemon Cookie

お友達が彼女の家の庭で採れたレモンを沢山くれました。それで、今ケーキ屋さんをしているお友達に２０年以上も前にもらったレモンクッキーのレシピを思い出しました。

A friend gave me a lot of lemon that grew in her garden. Then, I remembered the lemon cookie recipe I got over twenty years ago from a friend who now has her own cake business.


レモンの皮をすりおろしたものとバターを鍋に入れて、少しバターが焦げるくらいまで温めてから、それを粉や砂糖や塩とまぜて、冷蔵庫で１時間ほど寝かせてから、形成して焼きます．レモンの香りとバターの香りがとっても良いかんじ。。おいし〜〜！！！もちろん、レモンティーと一緒にいただきました。

Put some grated lemon peels and butter in a pot and heat them until the butter almost get burnt. Mix that butter, flour, sugar and salt, then rest it in a fridge for an hour , shape it and bake. The lemony and buttery flavors were just so nice and delicious!! Of course, I had them with lemon tea.

バイバイ Bye-bye

父母弟は沢山のおみやげと良い思い出を共に今日帰路につきました。来る時１つだったチェックインの荷物が帰りは３つに！
学校から帰った子供たちが。。「あ〜あ、皆帰っちゃったんだ」と寂しがっていました。この次は夏に日本で再会です！

My parents and my brother are now on the way back home with a lot of souvenirs and good memories. They came here with one check-in luggage and went home with three!
Kids got home and said,"oh... they are all gone?!!....." We're missing them already. We'll see them again in summer in Japan!!






弟をWilson CreekとHart wineriesへ連れて行ってあげました．彼は全部で１２種類以上のワインを試飲しました。私もちょっとだけ飲ませてもらいました。美味しかった！
I took my brother to Wilson Creek and Hart wineries for wine tasting. He tried more than 12 different wines. I tried a few of them. They were good!


父のリクエストでテメキュラの街を見下ろせる高台へ．．．とてもいい景色でした。
By father's request, we drove up to higher ground to have a good look of Temecula city. The view was wonderful.

庭仕事 Gardening

農業は両親の専門分野。ちょっと庭の手入れをしてくれました。
どうもありがと〜〜！！
Farming is my parents' profession. They took care of my garden.

春ですよ Spring has come!?

今週はとても暖かくなり、連日最高気温が２５度くらい。裏庭の花も色々咲き始めました。
This week has been really warm. The highest temp. is around 75F. The flowers in the backyards started to bloom.

旧正月 Happy Chinese New Year!

昨日は中国の旧正月。飲茶にいこうと思ったら、レストランは混んでいて１時間半待ちということで、代わりにラーメンを食べに行きました。これは正月の祝いの一部でしょう．．．．人参、レタス、お年玉．．．興味深い。。。。
Yesterday was Chinese New Year. We went to Dim Sum restaurant, but there were so many people waiting and we had to wait for 1 1/2 hours. So we went to eat Japanese Ramen(noodle) instead. This carrots, lettuce and a red pocket is part of celebration, I believe....hmmmm, very interesting.....

お客様 Guests

日本から弟が両親を連れてやって来ました。午前中はテメキュラのオールドタウンへ行き、ファーマーズマーケットでGyrosを買ってお昼に食べました。
My brother and my parents came to visit us from Japan. We went to Old Twon Temecula and bought some Gyros at Farmer's Market and had them for lunch.



午後はLake Skinnerで魚釣り。過去３回同じ場所へ魚釣りに来たのですが、何も釣れませんでした。。。が。。今回とうとう釣れました！！！ニジマスが２匹！！！ちょ〜〜感動！！！
We fished at Lake Skinner in the afternoon. We've gone there three times in the past, but never got anything.... ..... ..... FINALLY this time, we caught fish!!! We got two rainbow trouts!!!! Yeah!!! SO excited!!!!

お掃除 Cleaning

一通り編み始めたものを終わらせたので、ちょっと編み物休憩。でもちょっと気になるものがあったので作ってみました．たわし。こんな可愛いピンクのスポンジならお掃除も楽しくなるかしら？？？

I finished all the things I'd started, so I am taking a little break from crocheting. But I had one thing on mind and had to make it. Here it is, a washing sponge. Cleaning will be a bit more fun with this little cute pink sponge??!!

１２歳！！ Twelve yrs old!!

２月４日はケビンのお誕生日でした。
あの可愛かったベビーが１２才ですよ！はやいな〜〜。
Feb. 4th was Kevin's birthday. The little cute baby is now 12!! Time goes FAST!

This is the latest update on my Friendship Blanket. I added pink as you can see. How do you like it? Somebody~~~~~!!!!! Need to tell me when to stop!!!!

今日はケビンの１２才のお誕生日。これから（今は午後の４時４５分）ケーキを焼かなくっちゃ！！！忙しい、忙しい！写真は明日．
Today is Kevin's 12th birthday. I need to bake a birthday cake now (now is 4:45pm)! Busy, busy~~!! I will post the photos tomorrow.

あまり気に入っていなかったフレンドシップブランケットにちょっと色を足してみました．
I added some more colors to the Friendship Blanket which I didn't like it's colors much.

まずはオフホワイトを足してみて．．．ちょっとよくなった。。。
First, I added off-white.. a bit better


でももう少し足しちゃえ！オレンジでどう？
Hmm .... Let's add more colors! How about orange!?

お久しぶり Long time no post!

お久しぶりです．先週はちょっと風邪をひいて休んでいました．でも、何もしていなかった訳ではないんです．．．
I was sick last week and didn't do any blogging. But it doesn't mean I wasn't doing anything... I was doing something...




完成させました！！！御花畑のような御座布団です．かなり厚みがあって座り心地が良いです．以前作っていたお花はこのためでした．
I finally finished this---the flower-garden-like seat pad!!! It's big and thick and very comfortable to sit on. The flowers I was making were for this.
