お誕生日のケーキ Birthday Cake

ケビンの誕生日会を来週に控え、今日は義妹から教わったケーキの練習、試作をしてみました。いかがなもんでしょう師匠？飾りは時間がなかったのであまり上手にできませんでしたが。。。んんんん。。。美味しかったです。泡立てにすごく時間がかかりましたが、そこがポイントだと言われたので頑張りました！！！さて来週は本番だ！
Kevin's birthday party is coming next week. So, I practiced baking a birthday cake according to my sister-in-law's recipe and instructions. What do you think of this? Looks good, isn't it?! I didn't have much time to decorate, so it doesn't look very pretty. But it tasted great. She told me that the key is to beat and whip the eggs really well until it's really firm. Yes, it took me a while, but I tried hard. Next week is the show time! I cannot fail! Wish me luck!

激突 Crash

先日、民家に飛行機が落ちた現場に遭遇．すごい写真を撮ることができました。
The other day, I came across a plane crash. I was able to take this spectacular photo.




もちろん嘘だってわかってるでしょ？！これは先日ユニバーサルスタジオへ行った時にスタジオツアーというのに参加して、その時に撮った写真です．他にも沢山映画のシーンのセットがありました。楽しい１日でした．
Well, I know you won't believe me. This was taken during the Studio Tour at the Universal Studio Hollywood. There were a lot more movie sets there. It was a fun day.

教会 Church

テメキュラに越してから３つの教会を訪れてみました．最終的にこの教会、Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowshipに行くことに決めました．家からそう遠くないこと、街の中ではなく自然の中にあること、説教が牧師の経験や他の資料から多く語られるのではなくしっかり聖書から語られること、音楽もそう派手ではなくまた伝統的すぎて静かすぎということもなくちょうどいいなどが気に入った理由。我が家にお越しの際は皆さんもぜひこの教会へご一緒しましょう。
Since we moved to Temecula, we'd visited three churches. And we settled at this church, Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship. We liked the location where it is not too far from our house and it is in the country, away from the city. The message is strictly from the Bible, not so much from pastor's experience nor from other sources. The music is not so loud and not too traditional. When you visit us, you can visit this church with us.

男の子 Boys

やっぱり男だな。。と思ったのは。。。
最近家の子供達があまりにもテレビばかり見ているので、子供番組のチャンネルをロックしました。我が家はベーシックなサテライトチャンネルをとっているだけなのですが、とにかくやたらと色んなチャンネルがあって（多分１５０以上）、子供の番組も常に１０種類以上くらいあって、だからきりなく次から次と見続けているので、規制をかけた訳です。そしたら何の番組を見始めたと思いますか？なんと、ミリタリーチャンネル。やっぱり男の子だなぁ〜〜〜と、つくづく思いました。
Boys are boys... The recent incidence in our house made me think of that... Lately, boys were watching too much TV, so I had to block the kids channels. We have the basic satellite service which gives us more than 150 channels to click and view. There are more than 10 channels just for kids, so of course they switch from one program to another and can never stop watching. Therefore, I had to step in and control.
Anyway, what was interesting is that now they started watching the Military channel. And that really made me think... BOYS.. natural instinct?!

I am feeling much better now. I just lost my beautiful voice.

風邪 Cold

久しぶりに風邪を引いた。熱はさほどないが喉が痛い。風邪のためブログは少しだけお休み。。。
と言いながらこうしてブログをしている。早く寝ろってか？！子供達が本当に良く働いてくれて感謝。
Got cold. No fever, but sore throat. Take a break from blogging due to this cold.....sure I should stop blogging NOW and go to bed! Kids are so sweet and I am so grateful for them. They have been so helpful.

皆さんの家ではクリスマスに何が増えたのでしょうか？
我が家では、バスケットボールとボクシンググラブとボクシングのパンチの練習のこれ。。なんと言うんでしょうかね？
私も時折力を込めてパンチしています。誰かの顔なんて想像してませんよ、、、
What kind of things you gain in your house after Christmas. We got a basket ball, boxing gloves and boxing reflex bag. I occasionally use it, punch it really hard. Not picturing anybody in mind!

散歩の途中で During the walk

散歩の途中で珍しいものを発見。見て下さい、この蜂の巣。なんて変わったところに巣を作ったんでしょうね。いつも横を通るたびに、ロイヤルゼリー！はちみつ！ちょっと採ってみようかなと誘惑されるのですが。。。。やめたほうがいいよね？？！！
Discover this unusual site during the walk. Look at this!! Bee hives. They nest in such unusual spot. I am so tempted to get honey comb and honey. Shall I ??

毛糸 Yarn

ちょっとこれを見て下さい。おもしろいでしょ。これはちょっと本当に”感動だ！”

こんなにでかいバッグをウールの糸で編んで、熱いお湯であらったら。。。まあまあびっくり！縮んでこんなに可愛いバッグに変身。超可愛いよ。目がぎっしり詰まってフェルトのバッグみたいになっちゃうんだよ。私も今ちょっと何を編んで縮めてみようか思案中。?????
You knit this big bag with wool yarn, then wash it in hot water. See what happens... It shrinks and turns into this cute little bag.
So cute. It's like a felt bag. I am thinking what shall I crochet or knit to have them shrink. ?????

湖 Lake

家から１０分くらい車で行ったところにある湖ーLake Skinner。
This Lake Skinner is about 10min. drive from our house.
魚釣りをしたいね。。と言っていたところから、今はボートを買おうというところまで話が発展して、現在ネットで検索中。
We were talking about going fishing, but now boys are talking about buying a boat. They are checking out good deals on the internet.
今日湖の様子を見に行った時に出会った親子が釣り上げた魚。大きかった！チャン家にもこんな大漁の日が来るかな？
We went to see the lake today and met this father and son who caught those big fish!! They were really big. We will dream about those big fish and one day it will come true!

お花のネックレス Flower necklace

シンガポールのとてもチャーミングなお友達がとても可愛いお花のネックレスを編みました。あまりに可愛かったので、私も編まずにはいられなくなり作ってみました。。。
でも私がつけるのには可愛すぎるので、可愛いのが似合うお友達にあげました。
A very charming friend in Singapore made this really cute flower necklace. It was so cute that I had to make one.
But, it was too cute for me to wear it, so I gave it to my charming friend here.

お気に入り Favorite

これは先日ユニバーサルスタジオで撮った写真の中で一番のお気に入り。可愛いでしょ！色、デザイン、形、どこをとっても良い．私が写真を撮っている間に、我が家の男達はそそくさと先を歩いていってしまったので、値段を聞く時間もなかった．彼らは急ぎすぎて色んなものを見過ごして人生過ごしてるんだなぁ．．私がきょろきょろしすぎ？？？
Those are my favorite photos from the universal studios. Aren't they pretty! I like the colors, designs, and shapes. I didn't have a chance to ask how much each star costs. Boys didn't notice this stall and were gone so much ahead of me while I was taking all those photos. How much they miss in life going so fast.

理輝は１４才 Riki is 14

今日は理輝のお誕生日。お寿司とアイスクリームケーキでお祝い
Today was Riki's birthday.　We celebrate his birthday with Sushi and Daily Queen's Ice Cream Cake.

アメリカの寿司もなかなか美味しそうでしょ。韓国人のやっている近くのお寿司屋さんで作ってもらいました。ネタが大きくて美味しかった。もちろんカリフォルニアロールも注文。それから今日はエビ天ロールも。。
Sushi made in USA looks delicous, right?! We ordered it from the Sushi restaurant run by the Korean owner. They put generous slice of fish on rice. They were really good. Of course we had CALIFORNIA rolls and some shrimp Tempura rolls as well.

冬休みもいよいよ終わり、明日からは学校です。
School resumes tomorrow.

甘いマリリン Sweet Marilyn

レゴで作ったマリリンモンローは前に見たことがあるけど、これはまた新作。何で出来てると思う？？？ジェリービーンだよ！素敵！
I've seen the Marilyn Monroe made of Lego bricks, but this one is new. What do you think this one is made of? Jelly Bean!! So cute.

ロスへ Visiting L.A.

今日は車でロサンゼルスへ。１時間４５分くらいかかったかな．．．
We drove up to Los Angeles today. It took us about 1 hour 45min.
こちらユニバーサルスタジオ。今日はシティーウォーク買い物とレストラン街を散歩。
Here is the Universal Studios. We didn't visit the theme park, but walked along the City Walk.

楽しいお店がたくさん。There are many fun shops.

あけましておめでとう。Happy New Year!

みなさ〜ん。あけましておめでとうございます。夕べは遅くまで紅白歌合戦を見ながら、２００８年最後の編みぐるみを完成いたしました。これが、犬のはずなのですが、見ようによっては、ろばにもうさぎにもトナカイにも見えて、一匹３役４役にも。。。皆さん今年もよろしくお願いいたします。
Happy New Year to you all!! I watched a Japanese program(Red & White singing match) on TV till late last night. While I was watching, I finished my very last AMIGURUMI( crochet animal) for 2008. This supposed to be a dog, but it could look like a moose, a donkey or a rabbit or anything else you name it. Well, it's good. One animal play the role of three or more. I wish you all a joyous 2009.
