オクトーバーフェスト Oktoberfest

ミュンヘンにいたらオクトーバーフェストに行かなくちゃ！って訳で行って来ました。

You've got to go to Oktoberfest if you were in Munich!  So we did.

地元の人達はほとんど伝統的な衣装に身を包んでお祭りを楽しんでいました。

Most locals were in their traditional costume to enjoy the festivity.

色んなビール醸造所やレストランのテントがありました。

There were many tents set up by different breweries and restaurants.

私達は私の好きなアウグスティナーブラウのテントでお昼を頂きました。

We had lunch at my favorite brewery, Augustiner-Brau's tent.

ビールが１ℓのジョッキにどんどん注がれていました。

One-liter beer mugs were being filled up quickly one after another.

PROST! (乾杯) 私達はそんなに飲める人ではないので、Radler(ビールとレモンソーダの半々割り)にしました。。手前にボトルが見えるでしょ。ちなみにこのジョッキ１ℓで１０ユーロ。

PROST! (cheers) We are not those people who can drink a lot, so we made Radler (half beer and half lemon soda.)  You can see the soda bottle in front.  FYI, this one liter (33.8oz) mug full of beer was 10 euro.

一気飲みをした人は警備の人達にテントの外へ連れ出されていました。一気飲みをしてテントの中で嘔吐されるのを防ぐ為だそうです。

Those people who chugged a mug of beer was escorted out of tent by security staff.  It is to prevent people from throwing up in a tent after chugging.

雰囲気伝わりますかー？

どれも美味しかったー。Everything tasted great.

ローストチキンもデザートもプリッツェルも美味しかった。

A roasted chicken,  pretzels, and desserts were all very good. 

ビール飲んだらトイレだよね。このサインメチャ可愛い。

When you drink beer, you've got to go to a toilet.  This sign is so cute.

２人とも沢山写真を撮りました。

We both took many pictures.

きっと皆さん沢山ビールを飲んだんでしょうねー。スヤスヤ。。

People must have had a lot of beer.  Zzzzzz.....

友達いわく、今年のオクトーバーフェストはテロの恐怖から人が少なかったそうです。バックパックや大きなバッグは持ち込み禁止でした。

Friends said it's a lot less people at Oktoberfest this year due to the fear of terrorism.  Backpacks or big bags were not allowed beyond the entrance.  

オペラ：夢遊病の娘，Opera; La Sonnambula

ここはミュンヘンのプリンツレーゲンテン劇場

This is Prinzregententheater in Munich.

ミュンヘンで初めてのオペラ観賞に行って来ました。こちらがチケット。チケットには電車代まで含まれています。

It's our first time going to watch an opera in Munich.  These are the tickets and they include train fare as well.

開演は午後7:30ですが、皆さん早く来てドリンクを楽しんでいる様でした。

Opera started at 7:30pm, but people seemed to come earlier and were enjoying drinks.

こちらが劇場内。小さな劇場ですがとても綺麗でした。

This is inside the theater.  It was a small theater, but was beautiful.

ここが私達が座った所。後ろの方ですが劇場が小さいのでステージがそれほど遠く感じませんでした。

This was the area where we were seated.  Even though our seats were toward the end of the theater, we didn't feel the stage was so far away from us as the theater was rather small.

音楽はここで演奏されていました。とっても綺麗な音色でした。

Music was played here which sounded so beautiful.

あ。。オペラの名前はLa Sonnambula(夢遊病の娘)。イタリア語で歌われました。歌っている事は全然わかりませんでしたが、あらすじはちゃんと家で勉強していったので何がおこっているかは理解出来ました。皆さんの声がとても美しかった。

The name of opera is "La Sonnambula."  It was in Italian and we didn't understand what they were singing.  However, we studied the storyline at home beforehand, so we did understand what was going on.  Their voice was so beautiful.

オペラはおよそ３時間くらいだったのかな？とてもいい一日でした。

Opera was maybe about three hours, I think.  It was a very good day.

iPhone7にアップグレード Upgrading to iPhone 7

待ちに待った日がやって来ました。

The long-awaited day had come.   

とうとうiPhone 4Sから７にアップグレードです。もう超嬉しい！何しろ4Sはとってもとってもお年寄りで、やる事が全てゆっくり、新しいソフトウェアにも対応出来ず、固まる事も多々。小さくて可愛かったんですけど、お別れの時期でした。新しいiPhone7はピンク色で大きなスクリーンは老眼の進んでいる私にとっては感謝感謝。

Finally, I go my cellphone upgraded from 4S to 7.  I am super happy as my 4S was getting very old and its action was becoming super slow.  It was so old that it couldn't handle the new software update and froze quite often.  It was small and cute, but now it was time to say good-bye.  My new iPhone 7 is pink and I sure do appreciate the bigger screen as my eyes are aging.

今度は私のMacBookをアップグレード出来る日が待ち遠しいです。最近歳をとったせいか問題が増えてきました。

Now, I cannot wait to upgrade my MacBook as it is aging and started giving me more troubles lately.

絞りたてオレンジジュース Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

こんな機械をあちこちのスーパーで見かけました。でも、使い方がわからないから怖くて試した事が無かったのです。
I had seen this machine at various grocery markets, but I was scared to try it because I didn't know how to use them.

でも、数週間前にケビンがまだここにいた時、どうやって使うのか教えてくれました。彼の大学の学食にも同じ機械があるそうです。絞りたてのオレンジジュースはすごく美味しかったです。
However, a few weeks ago while Kevin was still here, he showed me how to do it.  He said the cafeteria at the university he attends has the same machine.  Freshly squeezed orange juice was so delicious!

台所が付いたー！ Kitchen Is Installed.

このキッチンで４０日間。洗い物は全てお風呂場でしていました。でもその生活にとうとうバイバイする日が来ました。

I used this kitchen for 40 days.  All the washing was done in a bathroom.  Finally,  the time had come to say good-bye to this kitchen.

新しい台所にこんにちは！綺麗でしょー！このアパートは台所も押し入れも電気も鏡も付いて来ないので、自分達で付けないといけません。実はこのキッチン、タケちゃんの秘書様が選んで注文してくれました。本当に感謝。

Hello to this new kitchen!  Isn't this beautiful?  This apartment didn't come with kitchen, closets, lightings nor mirrors, so we had to install everything.  This kitchen was arranged by T.K.'s secretary.  Big thanks to her.  

IHクッキングヒーターはお掃除が楽です。オーブンの下の２段の引き出しがグー。

This glass top cooktop is so easy to clean.  I appreciate the two-leveled drawer under the oven.

これは換気扇。ガラスの部分を引っ張りだすと換気扇がスタートします。

This is range hood.  The fan will start when I pull the glass part out. 

引き出しの中も整理整頓しやすいようになってます。

Inside the drawer has this cool organizer.  

床ぎりぎりまで引き出し。

とおーっても背の高い冷蔵庫。踏み台は必需品だな。

A very tall refrigerator.  A stool is a necessity.

美しいキッチンは凄く大好きで嬉しいのですけど、料理をする意欲までは与えてくれなかったのですねー。今日はおいしい晩ご飯を地中海レストランで頂きました。美味しー！

I love this beautiful kitchen and am very happy, but it didn't bring motivation to cook.  We went to eat at a mediterranean restaurant today.  Food was really good.  

卵の出所 Origin of Eggs

ドイツに来てからとにかく言葉がわからないから買い物も大変。パッケージになんて書いてあるのか解らないから、どんな種類か、どんな質か、どんな材料使ってるのかなどなど全く解んない。それで、今日の発見がちょーすごい！と。。私は思う。
Ever since I moved to Germany, even just doing shopping is not easy since I don't understand any German.  Because I don't understand what's written on packages, I cannot tell what kind, what quality, what ingredients and so on.  But what I found out today is just so exciting and awesome!  I think....

それは卵に書かれている番号。これを見たら、卵の出所がわかるらしい。それでは、この卵の出所を探してみましょう。こちら＝＞クリック をクリックして、そこに卵に記載されている番号を入力しましょう。じゃじゃーん！出てきましたか？なんとこの卵はドイツのフラウンバーグ（ミュンヘンからそう遠くない）という所で、鶏舎内で飼われている鶏の卵らしい。

ダッハウ強制収容所 Dachau Concentration Camp

金曜日に、恵敏と私、ダッハウ強制収容所へ行って来ました。

Kevin and I went to Dachau Concentration Camp on Friday.

「働けば自由になる」

"Work sets you free."

この門が唯一の収容所内への出入り口。拘束された人々は皆この門を通って収容所に入ります。一生懸命に働けば自由になれると考えたそうです。でも実際にはそんな事はなく、死ぬまで働かされ、その結果、過労死の故に自由になったと言うのが現実だそうです。皮肉ですね。

This is the only gate into and out of the camp and all prisoners were taken into the camp through this gate.  They were mislead to think that they would be set free if they worked hard.  The reality was that they were forced to work until they die and as a result, they gained freedom.  It's an irony.  

  この記念碑のデザインを良く見て下さい。やせ細った人間が積み重なっています。まさしくこれが現実でした。ここには載せませんが、博物館にはとても悲惨な写真が沢山展示されていました。

When you take a good look of this monument, you will see many boney human bodies being piled up.  This was the reality.  I won't post any pictures here, but there were many horrible pictures displayed at the museum.  

これは実際に使われていた物だそうです。２４時間休む暇なく火葬を続け終いには石炭が無くなるほどだったそうです。

These are the original that were being used back then.   These were constantly burning dead bodies  24 hours a day until they almost run out of coals in the end.

こちらの記念碑には「死者に敬意を、生ける者に警告を」と書かれています。この世の平和を祈るばかりです。

Below a statue of a prisoner curved, "To Honor the Dead and To Warn the Living."  I just pray for peace for our world.
