理輝が帰ってきた。Riki Is Back.

 理輝がおよそ１年ぶりに京都からテメキュラへ帰ってきました。

Riki came back to Temecula from Kyoto for the first time in a year.

京都から沢山の美味しい和菓子を持って来てくれました。イェー！ 

He brought many yummy Japanese sweets from Kyoto.  Yay!

こちらは私が今晩作った大学芋。美味しかったー！この作り方が簡単、是非皆さんもお試し下さい。

This is the sweet potato dessert I cooked tonight.  It was delicious!  This recipe was very simple.  

冷蔵庫のドアの上 On the Fridge Door

母の冷蔵庫のドアには、沢山写真があります。ここ十数年、毎年夏には子供達と実家へ帰っています。このドアの前に立ったら、子供達の成長ぶりとここ数十年の沢山の夏の思い出が見えます。あっと言う間に十数年が過ぎてしまいました　(*^_^*)
There are many pictures on my mom's fridge.  For the last ten plus years, the kids and I have gone back to Japan to spend the summer with my parents.  When I stand in front of this fridge, I can see the children growing up and the many good memories of each summer.  The last ten plus years have gone so fast (*^_^*)

ワイン用葡萄 Wine Grapes

お友達から沢山のワイン用の葡萄をもらいました。とっても甘いんですー！

I got a lot of wine grapes from a friend.  They are very sweet!

 この葡萄で、パン用の天然酵母を作ります。それから、ちょっとワインも。。

I use these grapes to make fruit yeast to make breads.  I also try making some wine...

松本で買った白ワインと自家製オレンジ酵母で作った酵母パン。そして、テメキュラのチーズにお友達から頂いたイチジク。どれも美味しかったー！！

The white wine from Matsumoto city, Japan, the homemade bread using yeast started with orange, the cheese made in Temecula and the fig from my friend, they were all delicious!

今週の日曜日、主人が教えてくれた情報にかなり感動。

This Sunday, I was quite impressed by the information my husband shared with me.

 今日の午後、お友達の家のベランダのペンキ塗りをお手伝いをしました。とても日差しが強かったので、腕が焼けないようにカバーして働きました。

I helped my friend paint her balcony this afternoon.  The sun was very strong, so I covered my arm and worked.  

家に帰って、腕のカバーを取ったら、なんとこんな事になってました。手袋をはめているみたい。。。。ですよね！

I came back home, removed my arm covers and this was how I ended up.  I looked like I was wearing gloves.

どうしようー？

雑草抜き Weeding My Garden

 二ヶ月ほど留守している間に、庭の雑草も野菜もずいぶん成長していました。

While I was gone for almost two months, the weeds and vegetables in my garden had grown a lot.

テメキュラは、日中は暑くても、夕方はとても涼しいので、昨日の夕方、庭の雑草抜きを頑張りました。どうですか、綺麗になったでしょう。ちなみに、最高気温３０度前後で最低気温は１５度前後。
The evening in Temecula is very cool and comfortable though it's quite hot during the day, so I worked hard pulling all the weeds out in the evening yesterday.  I think the garden look much prettier.  FYI, the temperature in Temecula, the highest is around 85F and the lowest is around 60F.

ただ今、ジャガイモ、ビーツ、ルッコラ、紫蘇、レモングラス、トマト、スイスチャードなどが必要な時にいつでも収穫可能な状態です！
I now have potato, beetroot, arugula(salad rocket or rucola), Shiso, lemon grass, tomato and Swiss chard ready to harvest anytime when I need them.

アメリカに戻る Returned to USA

    カリフォルニアに戻ってきました。

We are now back in California.  

 日本からロスまでおよそ１０時間。長いよなーー。

It's almost 10 hours from Japan to Los Angeles.  It's a looooong flight.

カリフォルニアはめちゃくちゃ乾燥しています。ずっと雨も降っていなかったのですけど、私日本から雨を連れてきたみたい。今日は雨が降って、庭の草木やお野菜がとっても喜んでいます。
California is so dry.  We hadn't had rain for so long, but I bought rain cloud with me from Japan.  We are having rain today!!  The plants, trees and vegetables in my yard are very happy!
