会社のオープンハウス/子供を仕事場に連れて行こうの日。Open House/Bring Your Child to Work Day

 今日はたけちゃんの会社のオープンハウス。

Today was the open house of the company which T.K. works for.

こちらは彼のオフィス。初めて訪れました。

This is his office.  This was my first visit.

 ちょっと働いている振りをして見た。。。

I just pretended that I worked there.

お父さんと息子の時間 Father and Son Time

今日はたけちゃんとケビンでお出かけ。息子ちゃん達が小さい頃は私と共通の興味で一緒に楽しい時間を過ごせましたが、最近はやっぱり、お父さんとの方が共通の興味や話題が多いですね。
T.K. and Kevin went out together today.  When our boys were little and young, I shared the same interests with them and we had a lot of fun doing things together, but not any more.  Daddy has more things to do and talk in common with our boys nowadays.

今日たけちゃんとケビンは射撃練習場に行ってきました。

T.K. and Kevin went to the shooting range.  

皆既月食 Total Moon Eclipse

 昨夜は頑張って夜中の２時近くまで起きて、皆既月食を観賞しました。

I stayed up until almost 2am last night to observe the total lunar eclipse.

ブラッドムーンと呼ばれる赤いお月さまはとーーーっても神秘的で綺麗でした,
そしてお月さまの上の方には明るく真っ赤な火星が美しく輝いていました。
The blood moon was very mystical and beautiful and the bright red Mars was beautifully shining above the moon.

追伸：iPhoneの代わりにNikonのカメラが欲しかった。。。
PS:  Wished I had a Nikon camera instead of iPhone.

骨盤矯正体操 Pelvic Correction Exercise

最近始めたこの体操。なんだか良い気がします。肩こりが少し治った。お腹が少し凹んだ。などなど。。お友達から、骨盤のずれを治す効果があったと言う報告を受けています。皆さんもぜひお試しあれ。
This exercise I started recently seems to have good effects; my shoulder pain was released, my lower belly seems slightly smaller and so on.  I received a report from my friend that it was very effective to correct her imbalance in pelvis.  Would you like to try and see it works?

味噌 Miso

 初めて味噌を仕込んでみましたー！こちらが材料です。茹でた大豆、麹、そして塩。
This is my first attempt to make Miso!  Those are the ingredients; cooked soybeans, KOJI and sea salt.

 まずは麹と塩を混ぜます。

First, mix KOJI and sea salt.

 次に大豆をつぶす。

Next, mash the cooked soybeans.  

 つぶした大豆と麹と塩をまぜる。

Then, mix the mashed soybeans, KOJI and sea salt.

 ジップロックバッグに入れる。

Put the mixture into a Ziplock bag.

食品庫で数ヶ月寝かせる。上手く発酵して香の良い味噌になると良いなー。

Let it sit in the pantry for a few months.  Hope it will ferment nicely and turn into very flavorful MISO.

奥様に感謝の日 Wife Appreciation Day

たけちゃんが、お弁当を作ってあげたご褒美に「妻に感謝の日」を作ってくれました。初めてのご褒美晩ご飯は、Callaway ワイナリーにあるMeritageと言うレストランで。

T.K. made a "Wife Appreciation Day" to reward me for the Obento (lunch box) I make for him.  The first reward dinner was at the restaurant called Meritage at Callaway Winery.

 Twice Cooked Pork Belly with Basted Organic Egg, Tempura Avocado, Caramelized Plantain, Green Beans and Chile/Shallot Escabeche.

ブルーベリークランブル。どれも美味しくって、お腹いーっぱいになりました。それから頑張ってお弁当作作る気になりました〜！

Blueberry Cobbler.  The food was all good and we were all so full.  This sure does give me the incentive to work harder to make good Obentos!

親さん達ご紹介 Meet the Parents

こちらが産みの親さん達です。最近いつもファーマーズマーケットで産みたての卵を買っています。ところが、先週土曜日、いつも買っているおじさんの鶏の卵が売り切れ、その代わりにおじさんが、アヒルの卵を食べてみたらと提言。値引きをするからと言われた事もあって、試してみたわけです。ネットで調べたら、アヒルの卵の良さが色々とのっていました。でもやっぱり、鶏の卵の方が食べ慣れているから好きかなー。

They are the ones that laid eggs.  I buy fresh eggs from the farmer's market nowadays, but last Saturday, my favorite uncle's eggs were sold out.  Then, he suggested that I buy duck eggs instead.  Since he gave me discount, I decided to give it a try.  Many benefits of duck eggs were found on Internet, but I prefer the taste of chicken eggs, maybe because I'm used to it.

ふむふむ。。。 Hmmmm.....

皆さんの観察結果を楽しく見させて頂きました。

「黄身の大きさ」「左は半熟、右はそうではない？」「左は黄身が大きくて白身が小さい」「左は形が卵型」「右が普通アメリカで売られてる卵、左が日本製（笑）」「左は鶏じゃない別な鳥、それとも息子の絵？」

皆さん素晴らしい観察力、想像力ですね〜！

私が他に気がついたのは、「白身の色の違い」「黄身と白身の割合の違い」

そして卵を外から見るとこんな感じ。左の卵の殻は硬いです。

It's amazing how good your observation and imagination are.  

A few things I noticed;  "The colors of the egg white."  "The difference in ratio of the egg white to yolk."

This is how eggs look from the outside.  The shells of the left eggs are tough.
