足跡。。?Footprints... ?

ならぬ。。こちらはうんち跡。。。誰の？とかげです！ったく、そもそも嫌いなトカゲ、こんな風にどこでもおかまいなしにうんちして行くからもっと嫌い！
actually,they are not footprints.  They're droppings.  Who's? They are lizards'!!  As you know, I don't like lizards.  This sort of rude action of them makes me dislike them even more!

コーヒーコーラ Coffee Cola

コーヒーコーラ？？どんな味がするんだろう？興味津々の私が買わずにその場を離れる事は出来ませんでした。
Coffee Cola??  How does it taste like?  Curious Akiko couldn't leave the place without buying this product.

味はですねー。コーラにコーヒーリキュールを入れたような感じかな？コーヒーの味だけど、コーラの味。この次コーラとスタバのコーヒーでも買って混ぜて飲んでみよう！同じような味がするかな？ちなみに、このドリンク理輝は好き、ケビンは嫌いだそうです。
The taste is like the coke with coffee liqueur, maybe?!  It tastes like coffee, but also tastes like coke.  Maybe, I should go and buy a can of coke and a cup of Starbucks coffee and mix them and drink!  Wondered if the mixture would taste as same as this product.  FYI, Riki likes this drink, but Kevin hates it.

獅子舞と龍の舞 Lion Dance & Dragon Dance

昨夜ご近所さんあちこちで、新年のパーティーがあったらしく、賑やかでした。みんな楽しそうにおしゃべりしたり食べたりしていましたよ。
Our neighborhood was very lively last night.  There were many New Year parties going on and people were eating and chatting very happily.

お向かいのパーティーのフィナーレはこちらの獅子舞。

The finale of the across neighbor's party was the Lion Dance.

そして龍の舞。どちらも素晴らしかったです。
いったいこのお宅これらの舞の為にいくらお金を使ったんでしょうね？！
And this is the Dragon Dance.  They were both wonderful.
I just wondered how much money this neighbor spent for those dances?!

元朗 Yuen Long

元朗と言っても何処かさっぱりわからないでしょうね。ここは香港にある義両親の近くの街です。私たちは旧正月を香港の家族と一緒に祝ってきました。
You probably have no clue where Yuen Long is.  This is a small city close to my parents-in-law's house in Hong Kong.  We celebrated Lunar New Year with our family in Hong Kong.

こちらはお正月の為の花市へ行った時に撮った写真です。

Those photos were taken when we went to a New Year flower market.

沢山お正月を祝う花々が売られていました。

Many flowers for celebrating New Year were sold there.

そこで義理父が買ったのはこちら。あまり新年とは関係ないと思いますけど。これって、虫を食べちゃう植物？でしたよね。。
This is what my father-in-law bought there.  Probably, not much to do with New Year...  I think this is the plant that eats bugs, right??

新年快楽 Happy Lunar New Year

シンガポールはいくつかの文化、宗教があります。だから、新年も何回かありますね。例えば、普通の正月、旧暦の正月そしてイスラムの正月。
Singapore has a few different cultures and religions.  Therefore, there are a few new years.  For example, there are regular  New Year, Lunar New Year, and Islamic New Year.

札束 A bundle of notes

 すごいでしょう。ここに２シンガポールドルの紙幣が百枚。こんなピン札の札束なんて今まで見た事ないかも。。これが１万円札だったらいくら？そう言うのが欲しいなーー。
It's a WOW, right?!  Here are one hundred two-Singapore-dollar notes.  I don't remember seeing a bundle of new notes like this ever before.  If those were US-100-dollar notes, how much would that be?  I want a bundle of that!

 さて、これらのお札は旧正月の準備の為に私が今日入手したもの。紙幣は紅い封筒に入れて旧正月期間中に子供たちにあげます。ちなみに、家の子供たちだけの為ではありませんよ！
Anyway, I got those notes today in preparation for Lunar New Year.  Those notes will be put in red envelopes and given to children during the new year.  FYI, not just for our kids!

かたち Shape

 先日、カモメ食堂風シナモンロールに挑戦してみました。味はいつものと同じなんですけど、パン生地の切り方が違います。これもなかなか良いですねーー。
The other day, I tried this "KAMOME SHOKUDO" style cinnamon roll.  The taste is the same as the regular ones, but it's just the different way of cutting the dough. I like this one, too!

 ちょっとまって、パンが何かに見えてきました。ずっと昔から知ってるもの。。
Then, wait a second, the bread started to look like something I've known for a long time!

おさがり Hand-me-down

 こちらはお友達に頂いたおさがりの老眼鏡。最近とっても助かっています！小さい頃は姉から洋服や帽子や靴のお下がりをもらっていました。その時はお下がりなんてあんまり嬉しくなかったんだけど、今はもうおっけーおっけー感謝です。年齢が変わるとお下がりも変わりますね！次は誰かがお古の杖か松葉杖をくれるかな？！(^O^)

Those are the hand-me-down reading glasses I received from a friend.  And those are very helpful nowadays.  I used to get a lot of hand-me-down clothes, hats, shoes etc. from my sister and I wasn't very happy about that, but now I am OK and very grateful for the hand-me-downs!  I assume that as our ages change, the kinds of hand-me-downs change as well.  Maybe someone will give me canes or crutches next?!  (^O^)

３０日間だけ！Next 30 days!

さて、こちらが私が３０日間やる事に決めた事です。

Here, this is what I've decided to do for the next 30 days.

一日1回で良いから猫のように思いっきり身体を伸ばす事。３０日後には少し身長伸びるかな？それは無理か。。。
I've decided to stretch my whole body just like a cat at least ONCE a day.  Would I be a bit taller after 30 days?  Less likely....

３０日間の挑戦 Try for 30days

 

こんにちは皆さん！皆さんは新年の抱負を立てましたか？私はいっつも失敗に終わるので、数年前から辞めました。でも、その代わりに、これに挑戦する事にしました。これとは、「３０日間新しい事に挑戦してみる」 と言う事です。私の好きなサイトの一つに「TED」と言うサイトがあります。数あるトークの中でこちらは友達が勧めてくれたもの。さて、私は今日から３０日間、何に挑戦する事にしたでしょう？？？私が続けられる事ですから、めちゃ簡単な事です。これが出来なかったら。。　なんて事は話さない事にしましょう。。。ちなみに、日本語版TEDはこちら。

Hello, everyone!  Did you make a new year's resolution?  I quit making one couple years ago, because I always fail to fulfill my resolution.  BUT, instead, I decided to try this.  "This" is to "Try something new for 30 days."  One of my favorite web site is "TED."  This talk is one of many and which my friend recommended.  Now, what do you think I've decided to do for the next 30 days?  It's something that I think even I can keep going, so it should be something very easy to do.  Well, if I couldn't fulfill this resolution....  Let's not to talk about that!!

チャイナタウン Chinatown

 こちらは先週土曜日のチャイナタウン。旧正月の準備の為の買い物客？ですごい人人人でした。

This is Chinatown last Saturday.  There were so many people there shopping in preparation for Chinese New Year, maybe?!

今年は辰年。

This year is the year of Dragon.  

もっと人人。。。More people....

そうそう、それから、何処もかしこも紅赤紅。。。

めがね Glasses

気がついた方もいるでしょうか。。理輝がめがねを変えました。こちらが変える「前」。
Maybe some of you have noticed..   Riki changed his glasses.  This is "BEFORE" he changed.

そしてこちらが変えた「後」。どうでしょう？かっこいい？
And this is "AFTER" he changed.  What do you think?  Does he look cool?

とうとう。。。Finally....

３週間の冬休みもいよいよ終わりに近づきました。来週からは学校が始まります。今朝は啓安を空港まで見送りに行ってきました。この次の再会は夏だね！
A three-week winter break is coming close to the end.  Boys' schools will start next week.  We took Joshua to the airport and said good-bye to him this morning.  We'll see him again in summer!

肩こった！Shoulder pain!

去年からたまっていたしわしわシャツ。。ざっと２５枚はあったでしょうか。。。 今日１時間以上もかけてやっとアイロンが終わりました。肩が痛い。。。仕事はためない方が良いですね。。

A big pile of wrinkled shirts from last year...roughly over 25 pieces.  Today, I spent over an hour and finished ironing all of them.  Now I got pain in my shoulder.  It's better not to procrastinate....

理輝が１７歳になりました〜！どなたか気がつきました？つい最近めがねを変えました。

Riki turned 17 years old today!  Did anybody noticed?  He recently changed his glasses.

どうです？この果物。。。は虫類が嫌いな私にとっては気持ち悪いとしか言えません！蛇の革みたいな皮。。この果物はSalakと言うらしい。英語ではsnake fruit。果物好きな私も、さすがにこの果物は試す気にはなりませんでした。
What do you think of this fruit?  I who hate reptile must say they look disgusting! The skin looks just like snake skin.  This fruit is called Salak.  In English, it's called snake fruit.  Even though I love fruits, I didn't dare try this one.
