旬なもの Very Seasonal

今日はとなりのとなり町ヘメットにある、日本で言う社会保険事務所へ出かけていった。用事を済ますだけで、なんの楽しい事もないと思っていたはずが。。。
見て！！とても旬なすごく可愛い風景でしょう！！見渡す限りカボチャ！！
I had to visit the Social Security office in Hemet, CA.
I didn't expect any fun on this trip, but look what I saw today. This field was filled with big and small pumpkins which was SO cute and seasonal.



この畑の向かいには小さなマーケットがあって、新鮮な野菜や果物、ジャム、パン、パイなどを売っていました。
Right next to this field was the small market. They had fresh vegetable, fruit, jams, bread and pies.

私はボイセンベリーアップルパイとグレープフルーツを買いました。
美味しかった！ 今日も恵みの多い一日だったな。
I bought a Boysenberry Apple Crumb Pie and some grapefruits.　
They were delicious! Today was another day filled with blessings.

おとうさん。Daddy.

昨日は一日、おとうさん学校で頑張りました。Watch D.O.G.S.というプログラムの一環で、我が家のおとうさんもボランティア。このプログラムはアメリカの学校で行われているもので、お父さん達が子供の教育にもっと参加する事を促すとともに、お父さんが学校にいる事で、安全で安心して学べる環境を子供達に与えるというような事が目的。実際昨日はあちこちのクラスに行って、計算の苦手な子供を助けたり、先生の助手をしたり、休み時間の見守り役をしたり、ケビンのクラスでは、会社でしている自分の仕事の発表（半導体がどんなところでどのように使われているかとか。。。）をしたりしました。とても楽しい一日だったそうです。とかく子供の学校の事となると出かけていくのはいつもお母さん。お父さん達ももっと参加するといいですね。

Daddy volunteered at elementary school all day yesterday. It is part of the program called "Watch D.O.G.S." He was given a schedule for that day. He went into different classrooms to help students who are struggling with math and so on.. He watched kids during the recess. He gave presentation in Kevin's class about what he does at work and how I.C. chips are used in different things etc. He said he really enjoyed the day with kids at school. I think this program is very meaningful. It always tends to be mothers who go to schools for different reasons. More and more fathers should be encouraged to join in such program.

Surprise. びっくり！

数日前に驚きのお届けもの。めちゃめちゃ可愛いくまちゃん。オリジナルのシャツを着てます！私の誕生日を一緒に祝ってくれたみんな〜〜、ありがとう！！カードもメールもありがとう。
I received a surprise gift few days ago. It's a really really cute bear wearing very original shirt. Thank you all so much for celebrating my birthday together!! Thank you for cards and e-mails.

Liquid diet. 流動食

水曜日。よしあは矯正を始めた。とにかくこれが痛いらしい。。。かむ事もままならない可哀相な息子に。。。。これまたグッドなタイミングで購入したブレンダーを使い、夕飯を全部液状にした。ん。ん。ん。。見た目オッケー。味？思ったより悪くはない。ただ気持ちの問題だろう。かまなくても良い。吸い込むだけなのに、息子の食が進まない。。。
Joshua got braces on for the first time on Wednesday. He said it's quite painful and hard to bite and chew....Poor son...
It was perfect that I bought the blender that day (I didn't have Joshua in mind at that time). I put all the dinner into blender and made them into liquid. It looks OK. Taste?? Not so bad! It's just the idea of mixing all the dinner together and making them into paste somehow slows down his appetite.

Shopping game.買い物ゲーム

昨日はどうしたんだろう？色んな買い物をしてしまった。
全部で５,０００ドル位つかっちゃったかな〜〜。キャ〜〜！！！
では問題です。高い買い物から順番に並べて下さい。。。。
Wow, I did so much shopping yesterday!! I spent over $5,000 US dollars all together.

実は。。昨日の話にはさらにとんでもない続きが。。。

私の美しい新車に突っ込んできた加害者はその場を逃げ去った！！とんでもない奴だ！！幸い最近の携帯電話というのは便利なもので、主人はライセンスプレートの写真を撮っていた。警察がきて現場を調べた際、警察のデータベースから車の持ち主は明らかに。。さてこれからどうなる。。

Actually, there are more to add to the news yesterday.  The driver who hit my BEAUTIFUL  car drove away without leaving any information.  Thanks to the modern cellphone technology.  My husband was able to take the picture of the license plate of the truck(pick-up truck) and the police was right away able to track down the owner of this truck.  Well, let's see what will happen??!!

私の美しい新車が！！変わり果てた姿で帰宅。。。

信号待ちしていたところへ後ろからトラックが突っ込んできて。。。ガチャ〜〜ン。幸い運転していた主人は無事。

久しぶりのブログでこんな暗いニュース。や〜〜ね。この次は明るいニュースを。。。。

My BEAUTIFUL car came home with a totally different look....... 

SO MISERABLE...

A very tall truck crushed into my car from behind while my husband was waiting at the red signal.  Fortunately, my husband is OK. 

I haven't blogged for a while and the first news is such an unhappy one.  I will surely come back with a HAPPY news soon.

鶉の卵 Quail egg.

私が見てる物と同じ物が見える？見えるでしょ？！！可愛いでしょ！ケビンが鶉の卵の殻むきをしていて見つけた可愛い物。一人で３０個もむくなんて根気がいいよね。しかもこんな可愛い物を見つけて、素晴らしい観察力。もしもこの可愛い物が見えない人はご連絡を。。。答えをさしあげます。

Do you see what I see?  Isn't this cute?  Kevin found this cute thing while he was peeling the quail egg shells.  He has such good patience to clean 30 of them all alone and have great observation.  If you cannot see this cute thing, let us know.  We'll give you an answer. 

かっこいい!？ Cool?!

あ〜疲れた。ここ２日間で訪ねた医者の数７件。矯正歯科に始まり緊急医、病院、歯医者、骨科。さんざん待った。たくさん運転した。とにかく疲れた。。。健康が一番だね。

歯医者の予約がたまたま重なっていた事に加え、よしあが右足首捻挫。折れてなかったからほっとしたものの、このギアを３週間常にはめていないといけなくて、本人はいやだな〜〜と。。

でもこのギアを見た他の二人息子は「かっこい〜〜！！」だって。。。どこが？？

So tired.  Visiting doctors 7 times in two days.  Started with an orthodontist then urgent care, emergency, another urgent care, dentist and sports medicine.  So much of waiting and driving.  Just exhausted.  Being healthy is the best blessing!

We knew we had many dental appointments, but didn't know that Joshua would sprain his ankle--good thing it wasn't broken.  He came home with this gear on his ankle and got this reaction from his brothers.  "COOL!!"   I don't understand...  why? cool? 

仕上がりました。Finished!

先日の編み物。このように使われています。お料理の最中って手がぬれてたり汚かったりするんですよね。それから、これがあると握りやすくて開けやすいみたい。。もちろん、冷蔵庫も可愛くなるしね。。。

Crochet I was working on is finally completed and in use.  During the cooking, my hands are often wet and have something on.  With this thing on the handles, they keep the handles clean, give good grip and make it easier to open the doors.  And of course, they make the fridge look prettier and colorful!!

やっと届いた。。Finally delivered.

待っていたものがやっと届いた。シンガポールからの便り。航空便でちょうど２週間。急ぎのものではないけれど、郵便局ののんびりさに使う人が減るのもわかる気がした。しかしながら郵便受けに請求書と広告以外の物が入っているのを見つけるのはとても嬉しい。しかも素敵な手作りのカード。今時何でも時間の節約で手作りの物が減る中、そして手書きの便りが減る中、とても嬉しい届け物だった。

Something I've been waiting for had finally arrived here.  It's a parcel from Singapore.  It took TWO weeks by airmail.  It's not something urgent.  But, no wonder the post is not so popular anymore. It's so slow.  We only find junk mails and bills in the mail box nowadays and seldom find personal letters.  So, it was such a pleasant thing to find this one in there today.

Inside the envelope, I found the beautiful  handmade card.  We use more E-cards, E-mails, E-everything, because it's faster, easier, cheaper and ???   This delivery maybe took a bit longer than we expected, but it was a truly  precious delivery. 

またまた美味しい話。。Tasty story again.

またまた食べ物の話でごめんなさ〜〜い。食いしん坊の私ですから。。ついつい。。

赤いパプリカが安売りだったので沢山買ってきて、大好きな一品を作りました。スペイン人のお友達に教わった大好きなレシピです。シンプルで栄養があって美味しい。作り方は焼きなすと同じ。パプリカを焼いたら（皮が焦げるくらい）皮と種をとって細く切り、オリーブオイルとにんにくで炒め塩で味付け。

オーブンがとてもいい感じに暖まっていたので、何かついでに作ろうと、バニラシフォンケーキを作ったら、黄身が二つ余っちゃって。。。もったいないからと、何か考えたら、プリン！プリンは黄身を多めに使う事が多いレシピ。だからぴったり。そんなこんなで、オーブンを２時間以上も使いっぱなし。部屋が温かくなったので、エアコンを少し強くして。。。なんだかちょっと来月の電気代が心配になってきた。

Sorry.  It's again about food.  You know, I love to eat!!  

Red pepper was on sale, so I bought a lot of them to cook our favorite  recipe given by my very good friend from Spain.  Very simple, very nutritious and tasty.  Just roast the pepper (almost burn the skin).  Remove the skin and the seeds.  Cut them into strips.  Stir fry with olive oil and garlic.  Season with salt.

My oven was really hot.   I thought I should do some baking since it was nicely heated.  So, I decided to make a vanilla chiffon cake, then two egg yolks were left.  I didn't want to waste them, so I thought of making something with those egg yolks.  Pudding was the perfect recipe, because they always use extra egg yolks.  

Oven was on for over two hours and the room got warmer, so we turn the AC higher.  Now I am concerned about our next electricity bill.
