お父さん銀行 Daddy Bank

我が家では今までお父さん銀行が子供達の貯めたお金を預かっていました。しかしケビンが本物の銀行口座を開設したので、お父さんは、お父さん銀行を閉鎖する事にしました。

In our family, the Daddy Bank kept all the children's savings for them.  But as Kevin opened a real bank account, daddy decided to close the Daddy Bank.

こちらが子供達に届いたお父さん銀行からのEメールです。

「お客様各位
この度、土曜日に最年少のお客様がご自身の銀行口座とATMカードを開設する事になりました。それに伴い、この週末をもちましてお父さん銀行は正式に閉鎖します事をお知らせ致します。お客様の全ての預金は（アメリカドルと日本円）２−３日内に、お客様ご自身の口座に送金させて頂きます。しかしながら、金、銀、プラチナの保管サービスは続けて提供させて頂きます。添付致しました残高証明にて、皆様の残高の確認をお願い致します。
改めて、お父さん銀行をご利用いただきました事誠にありがとうございます。皆様の富が続けて成長します事をお祈り致します。

Following email was sent to children from Daddy Bank,

"Dear loyal customers,

As our youngest customer is finally getting his own checking account and debit card on Saturday, we are sorry to inform you that the Daddy Bank will be officially closing this coming weekend.  All your money (both in US dollars and Japanese Yen) will be wired to your own account in the next 2-3 days.  However, we will continue to provide storage service for your gold, silver, and platinum bullion.  Please review the attached account statement to verify if the balance is correct.

Again, thank you for using the Daddy Bank service.  May your wealth continue to grow.

President of the Daddy Bank"


そして、お客様の一人から、お父さん銀行にこのような返事が届きました。

「チャン社長様
お父さん銀行には大変お世話になりました。お父さん銀行の閉鎖は大変残念です。
お金が送金された事は確認させて頂きました。

しかしながら、お父さん銀行からのローンの貸し出しは継続される事とお察し致します。

今後ともどうぞよろしくお願い致します。」


Daddy Bank received the following email from one of the cuscomers;


"Dear Mr. Chan,

I have had a wonderful experience being a customer of the Daddy Bank.  It is truly unfortunate that the Daddy Bank has to close.  I have confirmed that the money has been wired.  

But I suppose I can continue taking out loans from the bank....  :-)

祝：初白髪染めー！ First attempt at dying my gray hair!

これだけあると、抜ける数ではなくなって来た白髪。ということで、初めて白髪染めをする決意をしました。

Just as you can see, there are too many gray hairs now that I cannot keep pulling them out.  So, I decided to dye my gray hair for the first time.

ふむふむ。。どうなるか？辛抱強く待つ。。。

Hmmm.....let's see how it would turn out?  Waiting patiently....

初めてにしては上出来です。何れ位持つかな？

Job well done for the first time.  I wondered how long this can last?!

ルバーブ Rhubarb

ルバーブをご存知ですか？ご存じない方はこちらのサイトを読んでみてください。テメキュラでは、土曜日と水曜日の午前中にファーマーズマーケットが開かれます。ファーマーズマーケットのお野菜や果物は生産者の方々が直接売りにくるので、とっても新鮮です。それから、その方達と直接話ができるのもとっても良いです。

Do you know Rhubarb?  If you don't know, please go to this site and read about it.  In Temecula, Farmer's Markets open on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.  The vegetables and fruits are sold by their growers, so they are all fresh.  And I really like the opportunity to be able to meet and chat with them.  

水曜日にルバーブを市場で見つけて嬉しくて買って来ました。このお野菜はちょっと酸っぱいですが、デザートにするととっても美味しいんですよ。こちらはルバーブケーキ。

I was so excited to find Rhubarb at the market this Wednesday, so I bought some.  This vegetable is a little bit sour, but it makes really good desserts.  This is Rhubarb cake.  

私がルバーブを好きになったのは、カナダにいるお友達が焼いてくれたこちらのルバーブのお菓子がきっかけ。今日はルバーブが足りなかったので、冷凍のベリーミックスを足しました。美味しかったです。

The reason I learned about this vegetable and started liking it was because of the Rhubarb dessert baked by my friend in Canada.  Today, I didn't have enough Rhubarb, so I added some frozen mixed berried.  It was delicious.

Rhubarb Dessert

Base

2 cup          Flour

4 table spoon   Sugar

3/4 cup        Butter / Margarine (softened)

Mix and press into the bottom of 13 x 9 pan, bake at 375F for 15 minutes.

Filling

2                     Eggs

1 1/2 cups     Sugar

1/4 cups       Flour

3/4 tsp        Baking powder

3 cups        Rhubarb  (if you cannot find Rhubarb, maybe you can use berries or green apple?!)

Mix and put on top of the baked crust. Return into the oven and bake for 35 minutes.

頭痛の原因 The reason for my headache.

こちらは、テメキュラのワイン！マスカットの香と味で甘いのですが美味しい。でもこのところこれを飲むと頭痛が。。。

This is the wine from Temecula.  It has sweet taste and flavor of moscato grape and nice.  But I get headache lately when I drink this wine.

これはお友達が持って来てくれた赤ワイン。私はあまりお酒を飲める人ではないので、滅多に飲まないのですが、ある時から赤ワインを飲むと頭痛がするようになりました。

This is a red wine given by a friend.  I cannot take much alcohol, so I don't drink very often.  But one day, I started having headache when I drink red wine.

最近原因がやっとわかりました。これです！！SULFITES：亜硫酸塩。頭痛はこれに対するアレルギー反応であったようです。
I finally found out the reason for my headache.  It's this, SULFITES.  It seems that the headache was my allergic reaction to this compund.

３０日間だけ、第２弾。Next 30 days, Part 2.

本当に、自己訓練のない私。でも、今日から「３０日間だけ」の新たな挑戦を始める事にしました。それはこちら。。「毎日３０秒だけ逆立ちをする」です。さて、この挑戦は成功するでしょうか？そして、３０日後には私のおっぱいも、お尻も、顔も全部引っ張り上げられていると良いんですけどー。(^O^)

I am so not sel-disciplined.  But, I am starting a new challenge for "the next 30 days."  It is this, "A handstand for 30 seconds every day. "  Would I succeed?  We shall see.  Hopefully, my breast, hips, face and everything would be lifted up after 30 days!  (^O^)

郵便 Postal mails

先週と今週は郵便箱にお手紙が届きました。近頃は広告のメールか請求書くらいしか受け取る事がないので、普通郵便で送られて来た手書きのカードがすっごく嬉しかったです。送ってくれた皆さんありがとう！

I received a few postal mails in the mailbox last week and this week and that made me very happy!  We only receive junk mails and bills in the mailbox nowadays, so I really appreciated those handwritten cards sent by regular postal service.  Big thanks to those who sent me those precious cards.

カタリーナ島 Catalina Island

５０歳の誕生日のギフトは、カタリナ島への旅行でした。

The gift for my 50th birthday was the trip to Catalina Island.

 私達が訪れたのはアバロンと言う街。

The place we visited was the city of Avalon.

お誕生日にこの島を訪れるといくつかの特典があります。まずは、島への往復フェリー切符を無料で頂きました。

When you visit the island on your birthday, you get some birthday privileges.  First, I got a free round-trip ferry ticket to the island.

 こちらのお店では、無料のアイスクリームを頂きました。

I got a free ice cream at this shop.

滞在のホテルでは無料のシャンパンを頂きました。ちなみにこれは家に持ち帰りました。
I received a bottle of champagne from the hotel we stayed.  FYI, I brought it back home.

 さて、島でのアクティビティーでなんと言っても一番楽しかったのはこちら、Zip Line。
Now, the favorite activity we did on the island was this one, Zip Line.

 カートをかりて、アバロンの街めぐり。

We rented a cart and went around the town of Avalon.

 晩ご飯の後は、こちらの劇場で映画観賞。映画の前にとっても美しい音色のパイプオルガンの演奏もありました。８０年以上も昔に建てられたこの建物の中の壁画はオリジナルのままで、とっても綺麗でした。この建物がとっても心地よくて、映画半分の所で眠りに落ちてしまいました。。。
After dinner, we went to see a movie at this theater.  There was a pipe organ performance before the movie and its sound was beautiful.  The painting on the wall inside of this building which was built over 80 years ago was the original and it was beautiful.  It was so comfortable sitting inside of this building, I fell asleep in the middle of the movie.

大好きなお日様のしたでの昼寝も堪能。

I also enjoyed my favorite activity, afternoon nap under the sunshine.

 地中海の小さな街に来たようです。

We felt like we came to a little town of Mediterranean Sea.

 海の水がとっても綺麗で、沢山オレンジの魚が泳いでいました。

The ocean water was so clear and we could see so many orange fish.

お見せ出来る写真がないのですが、素敵なエアーショーもありました。すごく楽しい週末でした。
I don't have any picture to show, but there was a very nice airshow.  It was a very wonderful weekend.
