手ぬぐい Tenugui

啓安が剣道クラブにいた間、沢山手ぬぐいがたまりました。手ぬぐいは剣道をする時に使うのですが、剣道用には数枚でいいのに沢山余りがありました。それで、私がそれをミシンで縫って風呂敷にしました。お陰で手ぬぐいがもっと役立ってます。
Joshua collected many Tenugui, thin Japanese hand towels during his Kendo club years.  He uses Tenugui when he plays Kendo, but he only needs a few and had too many spares.  So, I saw them together and made into Furoshiki, wrapping clothes.  Now Tenugui became more useful.

備えあり Being Prepared

 こちらは我が家にある非常食。私はあんまり心配する人ではないのですけど、主人はとっても心配性、良く言えばとっても慎重な人です。だから、東北地震の後主人がこちらのフリーズドライの非常食を買いました。ビーフストロガノフ、ご飯と鶏肉、ビーフシチュー、トウモロコシ、いんげんなどがあります。ちなみに、こちらの非常食２５年持ちます。食べる時は水を加えるだけ。
There are emergency foods being stored in our house.  I am not a kind of person who worries, but my husband is.  In other words, he is very careful.  So, he bought these freeze dried emergency foods after the Tohoku Earthquake, Beefstroganoff, Rice & Chicken, Beef Stew, Corn, Green Beans etc...  FYI, shelf life of these are 25 years plus and we just need to add water when we eat.

 家には発電機もあります。感謝な事にまだ一回も使った事はありません。

We also have a generator.  Thank God, we haven't even used it once.  

もちろん水は沢山あります。

Of course, we have many packs of water.

自然て素晴らしい Nature Is So Amazing.

 この可愛いキノコにちょーーー感動！この写真を友達のフェイスブックで見つけて超興奮。ちょー可愛い！！ちょー面白い！！！とにかくユニーク過ぎてもう大好き！！！
This cute mushroom/fungus blew my mind.  I found this picture on my friend's Facebook and got so excited.  Isn't this so cute?!  SO interesting and SO unique!  I love it!!!

良ーく見たら、おじさんの頭に生えてる毛みたいでしょ。その先にマフィンがくっついてる。それでグループで皆嬉しそうに歌っているみたい。自然て本当にすごい。

When you look carefully, it looks like hair on old men's head and they got muffins at the end of each hair. It looks like they are singers singing happily in a group.  Nature is so amazing.

あ。。これは今庭に咲いているアマリリスです。本当に美しい。

This is amaryllis glooming so beautifully in my garden now.

ボタン Buttons

クラフトのお店のオーナーから、こんなに沢山ボタンを頂きました。とーーっても可愛くて創作意欲が湧いてきます。高級ブランドの鞄をもらうより嬉しいかも！

An owner of a craft shop gave me all these buttons.  They are so cute and give me urge to create.  They probably make me happier than a brand-name bag does.

テメキュラで一番大好きなクラフトのクラスに参加していたお店です。

This is my favorite store in Temecula where I took my craft classes.

とーーっても残念な事に、そのお店が先月で閉店になってしまいました。私のオアシス的場所が無くなってしまって寂しいなー。

Sadly, the store had to be closed last month.  I will miss my oasis.

残り物 Leftovers

私にはお料理好きのお友達が沢山います。先週末お友達が晩ご飯に招待してくれました。沢山の御馳走を作ってくれた上に残り物を沢山持たせてくれました。御陰様で私は何食も食事の準備をしなくてすみました。ある時は別のお友達にお金を払ってチリビーンを作ってもらいました。また別のお友達にはエンチラーダ、そしてもう１人の友達には沢山春巻きを作ってもらいました。お料理好きでお料理上手な友達に恵まれているってとっても幸せ！
I have many friends who love to cook.  My family and I were invited to a friend's house for dinner last weekend.  She cooked a lot of food for us and even gave us leftovers, so I didn't need to cook for a few meals.  On another time, I paid a friend to cook chili beans for us, another friend to cook enchilada for us, and another friend to make many spring rolls for us.   I am so lucky to be blessed to have many friends who love to cook and are good at it.

私は料理は好きじゃあないなー。なぜか料理も時間がかかる。多分その時間の殆どはネットでのレシピの検索に費やされて、料理の時間自体はそれほどでもないのかも。。これは最近作った大根とコンニャクの甘辛煮。美味しかった。
I don't like cooking so much.  It takes so long for me to cook anything.  Most of cooking time is spent on searching the best recipe on internet and maybe very little time is spent on actual cooking.  This new recipe I tried not too long ago, simmered-radish-Konjac(konnyaku) seasoned with soy sauce and bonito flakes were very good.

もう５月！ Already May!

もう５月だなんて信じられません。時の過ぎ行くのが早い！４月はたったの４回しかブログに投稿出来ませんでした。今月はもうちょっと頑張って投稿するぞ！！今月はどんな発見があるかな？今庭でこの花が満開。
I cannot believe it's May already.  Time goes so fast!  I only had FOUR posts in April.  I am going to put a little extra effort this month to post more!  Let's see what kind of findings I will have this month.  This flower is in full bloom in my backyard.

こちらはファーマーズマーケットで買ったお花のバスケット。１２ドルって凄く優しいお値段だと思うなー。
This is a flower hanging basket I purchased at Farmer's Market.  This was 12 dollars and I think it's a very reasonable price.
