運転免許 Driver's License

ケビンは今月１８歳になったので、今日は初めて運転免許の実地試験に挑戦です。
Today, Kevin went to take a driving test for the first time as he turned eighteen this month.

 さて、いよいよ出発です。白のレクサスがケビンんが運転している車で、車の横に立っているのが試験官です。
Now, he was ready to go.  The white Lexus was the one he was driving and the man next to it was the examiner.

街の中を１５分くらい運転していよいよ帰ってきました。どうだったかなー？

After driving in town for about 15 minutes, they were back.  Let's see how the test went.

合格しましたー！！！おめでとう〜！　

He passed!!  Congratulations!

スベリヒユ Purslane

こんな雑草、庭かどこかで見た事ありますか？スベリヒユと言います。

Have you seen this weed in your garden or anywhere?  It's called purslane.

 いつも行くファーマーズマーケットで売っていたのですが、私にはどうしても雑草に見えました。だから、雑草にお金を払って買ってまで食べる気にならなかったのです。そしたら、お店の人が食べてみろとただでくれました。
It's been sold at the Farmer's Market I always go to, but I could only see this as weed.  Therefore, I didn't feel like paying any money to buy this to eat.  Then, the shop lady gave it to me to try without charging me any money.

本当に食べていいのかすごく疑ってたんです。毒とかあるんじゃないかと心配で、でもお店の人を信頼して料理して食べてみました。そしたらビックリ、美味しいんです。しかも沢山の効能があるんだそうです。
I was very skeptical about eating it.  I was afraid that it might contain some sort of poison, but I trusted the lady, cooked and ate it.  To my surprise, it was good.  Apparently, it has many health benefits.

花鼻花鼻水 Too Many Flowers

テメキュラに突然春がやって来て、先週から沢山花が咲き始めました。啓安と私の鼻は大騒ぎです。そして、目と喉がむずがゆい。美しい花はとっても好きなんですけど、春はアレルギー持ちには厳しい季節だな。。
All the sudden, spring has come to Temecula and too many flowers started blooming since last week.  Joshua and my sinuses are going crazy; our eyes and throats are scratchy.  I do enjoy beautiful flowers, but the spring is the worst season for the allergy sufferers.

ハッピーバレンタインデー！Happy Valentine's Day!

 今日はバレンタインデー。アメリカでは男の人が女の人にギフトをあげます。それで、ケビンがランチをご馳走してくれました。タケちゃんは出張、啓安と理輝はロサンゼルスでいないので、ケビンと２人ランチです♡♡♡
Today is Valentine's Day.  In America, men give gifts to women (in Japan, women give gifts to men on Valentine's Day) and Kevin took me out for lunch.  It was just two of us ♡♡♡ as T.K. is on a business trip and Joshua and Riki are in Los Angeles.

ケビン、いつも気前が良くって優しくてありがとう。

水曜日のファーマーズマーケット Wednesday Farmer's Market

髪の毛染めてません。I didn't color my hair.

テメキュラでは週に２回（水曜日と土曜日）ファーマーズマーケットがあります。私は中国人の農家の方が中国野菜を売りにくる水曜日のが好きです。彼女のお野菜はとっても新鮮で種類も豊富です。

 Temecula has Farmer's Market twice a week (Wednesday & Saturday) and I like the one on Wednesday because there is a Chinese farmer coming to sell Chinese vegetables.  Her vegetables are very fresh and there are a variety.

長ーーーいいんげん（三尺ささげ）を見ていたら、美しいロングヘアへの憧れもあって、ついついこんなことになっちゃいました。

I was looking at long beans and just couldn't help satisfying my longing for beautiful long hair.

新年快楽! Happy Chinese New Year!

今日は旧正月です。紅くて豚で貯金箱、この紅い豚のレゴの貯金箱は中国系家族チャン家にはなくてはならない物でしょう！昨夜は紅包（ホンパオ、日本で言うお年玉）を子供達はもらいました。今朝は湯円（白玉餅のスープ）を食べました。皆さん、新年快楽。
Today is Chinese New Year.  Red, Pig, piggybank.  This LEGO red piggybank is a must have for a Chinese family, the Chans.  Boys received 紅包(red envelope) last night and we ate 湯円(glutinous rice dumpling) this morning.  Happy Chinese New Year, everyone!

恵敏は１８歳 Kevin Is Eighteen

今日はケビンの１８回目のお誕生日でした。今年のお誕生日はとっても特別です。どうしてかわかりますか？今年は家族５人が揃って彼のお誕生日を祝っています。過去２年は恵敏とダディと私だけ。理輝が３月に京都に帰るまで皆一緒に居られる事がとっても幸せです。恵敏お誕生日おめでとう！来年の今頃は大学にいて、お友達と一緒にお誕生日をお祝いしている事でしょう。だから、このお誕生日はとおーーっても特別なお誕生日でした。

Today was Kevin's 18th birthday.  This year's birthday is very special.  Do you know why?  All five of us are together this year to celebrate his birthday unlike last two years when we only had three of us, Kevin, Daddy and I.  We all are so happy to be together until Riki goes back to Kyoto again in March.  Very happy birthday, Kevin.  You will be in college around this time next year and will celebrate your birthday with your friends, so this birthday was a very special one.

理輝の小旅行 Riki's Short Trip

理輝が京都駅から小旅行に出かけました。次から次と美味しそうな写真が送られてきました。さて、彼はどこへ行ったのでしょうか？

Riki took a short trip from Kyoto.  He kept sending us so many yummy pictures.  Now, can you guess where he went?

ここまで見たら日本人の皆さんはわかりますよねー。そうです、広島と宮島です。どれもとっても美味しそう。私も行きたいなー。

If you are a Japanese, you probably guessed it by now.  Yes, he went to Hiroshima and Miyako Island.  Everything looks so good.  I wish to go there one day.
