オーロラ Aurora

カナダにいるお友達からこんな美しい写真が送られてきました。オーロラって真冬にしか見られない物かと思っていたらそうじゃあないんですね。私も見て見たいなー！
This beautiful picture was sent by a friend in Canada.  I thought an aurora could be seen only in cold winter, but I guess not.  I wished I could see it, too!

クラフト教室 Crafting Class

昨日はオールドタウンのお店で月に一度のクラフトクラスの日でした。こちらがサンプル。さてどれくらいで仕上がるかな？

Yesterday was the day for a once-a-month crafting class at a shop in Old Town Temecula.  This is the sample.  Let's see how soon I can finish!

こちらのとっても美しいバッグは昨日お友達に頂いたもの。彼女の叔母さまが作られたそう。本当になんて素晴らしいんでしょう。私は有名ブランドバッグよりもこちらの方が大好きです。
This beautiful handbag was given to me by a friend yesterday.  She told me that it was made by her aunt.  Isn't this truly amazing?  I love this handbag much better than a famous designer handbag.

誘惑 Temptation

私おやつが大好き。チップなど買うと食べる手が止まらないから、買わないようにしています。誘惑に勝つ方法は唯一それだけ。このポップコーン、以前コストコで試食したらとーーっても美味しかったんです。甘いキャラメル味と塩っぱいチーズ味が入っているので、甘いと塩っぱいを交互に食べ始めたら止まりません。絶対に食べ過ぎるとわかっていたから、一度も買った事はありませんでした。でも先週は家族５人が揃っていたから、買ってしまいました。もうそれは美味しい！
I love snacking.  Once I open a bag of chips it's hard to stop, so I avoid buying any kind of snacks.  That's the only way to fight the temptation.   This popcorn I tried at Costco a while ago, it was SO GOOD.  A bag contains both sweet caramel flavor and salty cheese flavor, so once you start eating sweet and salty popcorns out of this bag, it's very hard to stop.  I knew I will overeat, so I never bought it.  However last week, I finally bought a bag since all five of us, Chans were at home.  It was yummy!

見てください。このサイズの大きさ。ちなみに、右側のが日本の普通のポテトチップスのサイズ。こんな大袋のポップコーンを食べきったらとっても太りそうですよね。
Take a look of the size of this bag.  It's BIG!  FYI, the one on the right is a regular size Japanese brand popato chips.  If I finished this big bag of popcorn, surely I will gain weight.

アンダーカットヘアースタイル Undercut Hairstyle

理輝がこの髪型に飽きたので、私に髪の毛を切って欲しいと。

Riki asked me to cut his hair because he got bored with this hairstyle.

 彼に頼まれたのは、アンダーカットとやら言う最近流行のメンズのヘアスタイル。
The hairstyle he asked me to do was called undercut which seemed to be a new trend in men's hairstyle.

こんな髪型やった事が無かったので、四苦八苦！

I've never done such a haircut, so I struggled!

 どうやって切るかのビデオも見て研究。なんとか理輝からオッケーがでました。

I watched a tutorial video and did some research how to cut and got an OK from Riki in the end.

この頃ちょっと忙しくしていて、なかなかブログが更新できていません。今月１０日にテメキュラに来た理輝は来週の月曜日には京都へ帰ってしまいます。家族が揃うのも年に一度。理輝が来てから家族皆でとっても楽しい時間を過ごしています。こんな家族写真が撮れる貴重な時間です。
I have been busy lately and haven't been able to update my blog as much as I wished I could.  Riki came to Temecula on 10th of this month and he is leaving for Kyoto next Monday.  The whole family get-together is only once a year nowadays.  We've been really enjoying the family time togeher since Riki arrived here.  It's a very precious time when we could take such family photos.

Be aware of this price!  It's not $1.99 per lbs, it's $1.99 EACH!!  They are so expensive!!!

ぬか漬け Nukazuke

初めてぬか漬けを始めてみました。

I've started Nukazuke(fermented rice bran bed) for the first time.

まずはキュウリで。

First, I tried with a cucumber. 

 一晩で出来上がり！まだまだ伝統的なぬか漬けの味の深みはありません。

Ready to eat after overnight.  It doesn't have the rich flavor of traditional Nukazuke yet.

最低一日に２回はかき混ぜる事！その裏には科学的理由があります。興味のある方はこちらの記事をを読んでください。混ぜ混ぜ結構楽しいですよ。美味しくなれーって良いながら、愛情注いでます。

I supposed to mix the bed at least twice a day.  It has the scientific reason behind it, but it's too hard to explain in English here.  So, please read this article.  Mixing is kind of fun.  I am telling the bed to become tasty and pouring my love into it.
