No way~~!!  Unbelievable!! The snail was right here, living right under the Rucola.  "The darkest place is under the candlestick." (Is this the right time to use this quote?!)

公共交通機関 Public Transport

 今日は車なし第１日目。さーて、秋子様のお出ましよー！

Today was the first day without a car.  MRT, here I come!!

 電車なんて、簡単簡単！！

MRT, so easy, no problem!!

 さて。。バスに乗り換え。。。

Now, I must change to a bus...

 んんんん。。。。何番のバスに乗れば良いんだろう？我が家は地図の左端の辺。。163番バスが通るはず？と書いてある？と思うんだけど。。。バスターミナルにそんな番号のバスは見当たらない！
Hmmmmm......  which bus I supposed to take?  My house is on the upper left corner on this map.  Based on this info, I supposed to take bus no. 163,  but I couldn't find the bus no.163 at the bus terminal!

結局、バスは諦めて、家までタクシー！

In the end, I gave up on taking a bus and took a taxi home!

今日公共交通機関を使って一つ気がついた。車を運転していると、目的地を決めたらそこまで一直線の私。でも、公共交通機関を使うと、モールやデパートを通り過ぎる事が多くって、色んなものが目に留まって、なかなか目的地に到着できなーーい！！私にはむいてないわー！！

I realized one thing after using public transport today. I normally go straight to the destination when I drive.  But when I used the public transport today, I had to go through malls, department stores etc. and so many things distracted me from getting to the destination!  Therefore, the public transport is not for me!!

ボルボ Volvo

今朝、ボルボちゃんに別れを告げました。明日からは、バスに電車にタクシーだ！ボルボちゃーんもう既にあなたが恋しい！車がないと外出の時は計画的にしないとなー。
注）実はチャン家、この夏もといたテメキュラ、カリフォルニアへ引っ越しまーす。
I had to say good-bye to our Volvo this morning.  And hello to busses, trains and taxis from tomorrow! VOLVO~~~,  I am missing you already!!  Now without a car, I have to be more organized and plan things ahead when I go out.
*  Chan family is moving back to Temecula, California this summer.

 水曜日にプラナカン博物館へ行ってきました。とにかく、ビーズ刺繍が綺麗！
I went to the Peranakan Museum on Wednesday.  Wow, the beadwork was gorgeous!!

プラナカンの歴史や文化に関しては、博物館のサイトを読んで自分で学んで下さい！あはは。。私は昔から歴史の勉強は嫌いなのだー！クラフトは大好きなのだー！
Regarding the history and culture of Peranakan, please visit the museum site and find it out yourself!!  ha ha..  I've never liked studying history!!  LOVE CRAFTING!!

洗礼式 Baptism

恵敏が先週の日曜日に洗礼を受けました。

また忘れた！ I missed it again!!

以前植えたルッコラが育ち、最近はサラダに入れて食べています。

The Rucola I panted a while ago has grown and I've been using it for salad.  

招待してもないのに、毎日食べにやって来るみたい。。
Some uninvited guests are coming to eat Rucola every day.

ただの食べ放題ー？！！　Free buffet~?!! 

「今日こそ彼らの家がどこなのか見つけてやる！」と自分に言い聞かせて。。
I told my self, "Today should be the day I found out where their nests were!"

座って待ってたんですけど、彼らの動きの遅い事！だから、ちょっと朝の片付けでも済ませようかたーなんて思っちゃったんです。。。まあ、その後どうなったかと言うのは想像がつくと思いますが。。。カタツムリの家を探し出す事なんてすーーっかり忘れちゃった訳で。。ランチを食べて家に着いた頃には。。そりゃあ勿論、さすがに動きの遅いカタツムリちゃん達も、無事に帰宅しておりました。あ〜。。。この私にカタツムリの家を探す事は出来るんだろうか？
I sat and waited, but they moved super slow!!  Then, I thought maybe I should go and get the morning dishes done.  You probably guessed it right what had happened then....  I totally forgot about finding out the snails' nest!  I got home after lunch and of course, by then... even the super slow snails safely went back home to their nests.  Ah...  I don't think I can ever find their nests.

靴下 Socks

見て下さい。この沢山の靴下。お友達が母の日にくれました。実はこれ一度に全部はくんです。まずは絹で出来たものを、そして綿のもの、そしてまた絹のもの、そして最後にまた綿の靴下。４枚重ねです。はいてしばらくしたら、足がぽっかぽか暖かくなってきました。これをはいていると、身体も暖かくなって、もし体温が１度上がったら、免疫力は５倍あがるんだそうです！友よこんな素晴らしいプレゼントをありがとう！！

Take a look of all these socks!  They were the gift from a friend on Mother's Day.  They actually meant to wear all at once.  First, I put on a silk sock, then a cotton one, then another silk one and finally the last layer, another cotton sock on a foot.  It's four layers all together.  After a while, my feet started to get really warm.  Wearing those socks makes body warm and the flyer says, if the body temperature went up one celsius, immunity would go five times up.  It sounds really good.  

ちなみに、母の日。アメリカにいるよしあからは電話にメッセージが届きました。残りの２人のティーンからは。。。。なにも。。母の日に何もないと嘆くより。。私は母になれた事を神様に感謝しました。
FYI, on Mother's Day, I received a SMS from Joshua in US.  From other two teens?  Nothing......
Instead of grumbling about getting nothing on Mother's Day, I thanked God for making me a mother.

あったかー！Warm!

ラフレシア Rafflesia

こちらはポケモンのラフレシア。

This is a Pokemon-Rafflesia.  

 そして、こちらは本物のラフレシア。ケビンのお友達とその家族がインドネシアのスマトラへ旅行に行った時に写した写真をシェアしてくれました。ポケモンのラフレシアは何度も見てましたが、本物の写真を見たのは初めてで、その花の大きさと美しさに感動です！！本当にすごい！！
And here is the real Rafflesia.  Kevin's friend and his family went to Sumatra, Indonesia, took those photos and shared them with us.  I've seen Pokemon-Rafflesia so many times before, but this was my first time seeing the photos of real Rafflesia and I was quite impressed by the size and the beauty of this flower.  It's just amazing!!!

こちらはつぼみだそうです。なーーんか、これがあのめちゃ綺麗な花になるとは。。

This is the buds of Rafflesia.  I can't believe those will grow into such amazing beautiful flowers.

リメイク Remake

久しぶりにミシンを出して、縫い物をしました。作ったものはこちらのクッション。いかがでしょうか？

I haven't done much sewing for a long time, so I took out my sewing machine and made this pillow.  Do you like it?

ついでにヒートパックを４つ作りました！以前お友達にもらったものをまねしてみました。このヒートパックの中身はお米。私はこれを毎朝３分ほど電子レンジでチンして、肩にのせて使っています。とっても気持ちがいいんですよ。

I also made those heat packs.  I copied what my friend made and gave me a while ago.  Inside this heat pack is rice.  Every morning, I put this on my shoulder after heating it up in a microwave for three minutes.  It feels really good.

ところで、このクッション。。実は、古くなったお友達のネグリジェを作り替えたものです。彼女はこの刺繍が綺麗だから、秋子なら何かに使うかな？ってくれたんです。近いうちにお友達にこのクッションを持っていってあげようと思います。喜んでくれると良いな！

BTW, this pillow was made out of my friend's old nightgown.  She said that this embroidery was very cute and she thought that if she gave it to me, I could do something with it.  And I did!  I am going to give this pillow to her sometime soon.  Hope she'll like it!

もっと明るく Brighter

これ、近所の市場で２枚１０ドル（800円位？）でお買い上げ。お買い得！？なんだか歳をとったせいかしら。。最近、ピカピカ光ってたり、めちゃ明るい色が好きになってきました。明るい色を着ると、気分も明るくなるのよね〜！
I bought those two shirts for 10 dollars (8 US$) at the nearby market. Good deal?!   I don't know, maybe because I am getting old?....  I started liking shinier and brighter colors lately.   Wearing bright colors does bring up my mood!
