小籠包 Xiao long bao

 理輝のリクエストで、土曜日はティンタイフォンに行ってきました。もともとは台湾で始まったお店。初めてこのレストランに行ったのは台湾に住んでいた時。台北のお店の前にはいつも長い列が出来ていました。今やビジネスが成長して、世界のあちこちに店舗があるようですね。
We went to Din Tai Fung to eat on Saturday by Riki's request.  This restaurant was originally started in Taiwan.  The first time we went was when we lived there.  There was always a long line in front of this restaurant in Taipei.  Now its business has grown and the branches are all around the world.

 品数も増えたみたいです。

Seems like they have more items on the menu.

 前菜。Appetizer.

 これぞ有名な小龍包。The world famous? Xiao Long Bao.

こちらは、中華味ご飯のシュウマイ。イソギンチャクみたい。すごくお腹がすいている時に行ったので、３人で（主人は出張中）１２品目も頼んでしまい、お腹たっぷり食べて、残りは次の日の朝食用にお持ち帰りでした。
Those are Chinese flavored rice Shu Mai.  They look like sea-anemone.  We were starving when we went there, so three of us(T.K. was gone on business trip) ordered 12 items, ate so much and took the left-overs home for the next day breakfast.

問題？！ Problem?!

こちらは、我が家のお向かいの家の前。この景色に実は大きな問題が隠されています。何だと思いますか？絶対にわからないと思うので、今日は答えもあげちゃいます。

This is in front of the neighbor across the street.   Actually there is a big problem hidden in this scenery.  What do you think it is?  No way, I think you would guess, so I am giving you the answer today.

木の真ん中がちょっとだけ低く切られている所の後ろに、なんと消火栓があるんですよ。火事になったとき、これで大丈夫なんでしょうか？消防法違反？
Right behind the section in the middle where the bushes are slightly cut lower is a fire hydrant.  Is it going to be OK in case of fire?  Is this a violation of Fire Safety Law?

お帰り！Welcome back home!

ミャンマー９日間の旅を終えて、理輝が日曜日に帰ってきました。あ、飛行機SQ5011が着陸！
Riki came back on Sunday after 9 days of trip to Myanmar.  Yes, the plane (SQ5011) just landed!!

 家族が皆待っています！Families are all waiting!

 いたいた！！お帰りーー！I spotted him!!  Welcome back!

可愛い笑顔！Cute smile!!

こちらは、記念品。熱気球に乗った時に貰った絵はがき。ツアー参加者全員が貰った刺繍付き布バッグ。そして、理輝が買った翡翠石の箸。とても良い旅だったそうです。
Some things to remember the trip are a postcard he received as a gift as he went on a hot air balloon,  a embroidered cotton bag given to all the participants of this tour and lastly two sets of jade stone chopsticks Riki bought.  He said it was a very good trip.

食べる？ Eat?

中華街の屋台で売っていた揚げ物。この写真を良ーく見て下さいね。食べたいですかー？っていうか。。食べられますかー？
Those fried stuff were sold at one of the stalls in Chinatown.  Please take a very good look of this photo.  Do you want to eat them? or perhaps I should say...  Can you eat them?

バジル Basil

 今、庭のバジルの花が満開です。一年中夏なシンガポールだからこそ２月の今頃でもバジルの花が見られます。ちなみに、こちらの最近の最高最低気温は２５度から３０度。朝晩は過ごしやすいです。
The basil flowers are in full bloom now in my garden.  Because of the summer year-round Singapore weather,  I can enjoy basil flower in the midst of February.  The highest and the lowest temperature nowadays here are 25-30C (77-86F).  It's been quite comfortable in the morning and in the afternoon. 

バジルの香って本当にいいですね。

The aroma of basil is really nice.

ヒーロー再び Hero Again

注文した食品を配達に来てくれたこの方こそが今日の私のヒーロー。
This man who came to deliver food I ordered is my hero today. 

昨夜ガス台の周りを掃除していたら、予期もしないこんな所からトカゲが飛び出してきました。すぐに何処かへ逃げていったのですが。。

 I was cleaning around the gas stove last night and a gecko jumped out of such an unexpected place.  It run away to somewhere right away....

ところが、今朝こんな所に出現。逃げようとしたトカゲは間違ってカップの中に落下。
But, it appeared again here this morning.  It tried to run away and ended up falling into a cup.

 私は慌ててカップに蓋をしたものの、どうして良いかわかリません。触りたくないし、本当にどうしようかと作戦を練っていました。そしたらその時なんと、たまたま配達屋さんから電話が入り、午後に配達に来ると言うお知らせ。もう私は嬉しくて飛び上がりました。
I right away put a plastic container over it, but I didn't know what to do with it.  I didn't want to touch it and I was trying to come up with some plan to get rid of it.  Then, a call came in from a delivery man to inform me that he was coming this afternoon.  I jumped for joy.

 彼にお願いして、トカゲを庭に放してもらいました。本当にありがとう、配達屋さん！！あなたは私の今日のヒーローよ！
I asked him for a favor and he released the gecko into our garden for me.  Thank you delivery man!!!  You are my hero today!

修学旅行 School Trip

今朝早く理輝が修学旅行に出かけました。この旅行は授業の一環で必須。色んな目的地から一箇所選びます。例えば、ヨーロッパ、アフリカ、中国、日本、東南アジア、オーストラリアなどなど。旅行代金は自費なので親は大変。。でも良い経験になるでしょう。
Riki left early this morning to go on a school trip.  This trip is a part of the school curriculum and mandatory.  They choose one destination out of many such as Europe, Africa, China, Japan, Southeast Asia, Australia and so on.  It's a financial burden to parents, but for sure it will be a good experience for children.

 理輝は何処だ？彼のグループは先生２人と生徒２０人。次男なので見送る母も気楽気楽。何でも初めての一人目の時とは違いますね！お別れもへっちゃら！
Can you spot Riki?  His group consists of two teachers and 20 students.  I wasn't emotional at all since he is the second son.  It was different with the first one where everything was the first time.  There is no separation anxiety this time!

で。。理輝はどこへ行ったかって？ミャンマーです。８泊９日の旅行です。旅の安全を祈ってねー！
Oh..so where did Riki go?  To  Myanmar.  The trip is 8 nights and 9 days.  Please pray for a safe trip!

30日 30 Days

３０日が経ちました。「３０日間だけ毎日猫ストレッチ」やり遂げました！次は何をしようかな？１週間以内に発表いたします。
Thirty days had passed.  I accomplished the "cat stretch every day for 30 days!"  I am thinking what to do next.  I will announce it within a week.

３ヶ月 Three months

 前回のヘアカットから３ヶ月。また短くしてきました。

It's been three months since the last haircut.  Short hair again.

横はこんな。襟足をそらないといけないのが面倒だなー。

バティック Batik

 こちらは、バティックと呼ばれる生地。綺麗でしょう！

This is the fabric called Batik.  Isn't it beautiful?!!

 こちらはIKEAで買った座布団。もう５年も使ったのでそろそろつまらなくなってきました。だから、この生地を使って新しく作り直し。
Those are from IKEA.  It's been five years since we bought them and now I am bored with them.  So, I've decided to make new ones with this batik fabric.

結構気に入ってます。

恵敏１４歳！ Kevin is 14!

昨日２月４日は恵敏の１４回目の誕生日でした。彼はアメリカ生まれなので、アジア時間の２月５日が誕生日。なので、今日投稿しています。っていうか、昨夜は投稿するのを忘れちゃいました。
Yesterday, February 4th was Kevin's 14th birthday.  He was born in US, therefore he was born on February 5th in Asia time.  So, I am posting this today and that is my excuse~~!! Actually, I forgot to post it yesterday.

 けびんが１歳の頃に撮った写真の数々です。めちゃ可愛い〜！

Those pictures were taken when he was one year old. He is SO cute!

 このアイスクリームは格別に美味しいんでしょうね！

This ice cream must be really yummy!

ハムスターを飼っていた事があるんですよ。

We used to have a hamster as a pet.

 バックパックに入っちゃうほど小さかったんですよね。

He was so small that he fit in a back pack.

庭には。。 In my garden...

皆様。モグラのように見えた里芋を覚えていますか？こちらが今の姿。きれいでしょう！私はこんな葉っぱが大好き。その隣にあるのは、たぶんアボガドの木。時々台所の野菜くずを埋めています、それでこちらが数週間前から伸び始めました。そしてその隣は１１月に植えたバジルです。
Do you remember the taro roots looked like moles?  Now they are like this.  Isn't this beautiful?  I love those leaves.  Right next to it is a avocado tree, I think.  I sometimes bury kitchen waste and this tree started to grow in the last few weeks.  And next to it are the basil I planted in end of November.

鶏 Chicken

あれ？アメリカで鶏をまるごと買った時と何かが違うぞー。鶏を袋から出してびっくり！頭と足がついてるぅ〜！！
Hmm... something about this whole chicken is different from the ones I used to buy in US.  When I got the chicken out of a package,  SURPRISE~!!  A head and feet are still there!!
