入寮 Checking in.

今日よしあが大学の寮に引っ越しました。まずはチェックイン。
Joshua moved into his dorm today.  First, he checked in.

 部屋に入るにはカードと暗証番号が必要。
He needs a card and pin number to get into his room.

３人部屋です。ベッドは上を選びました。
Three people share a room.  He chose the top bunk.
 

ビーツ Beets

こんな立派なビーツが採れました。ビーツのジュースは血圧を下げる効果があるそうです。ジューサーがないので、圧力鍋で水煮しました。
Harvested such big nice beets.  I was told that they were good for lowering your blood pressure.  I didn't have juicer, so I used a pressure cooker and simply boiled in water.

残り2日。Two more days...

 啓安がいよいよ土曜日からUCLAの寮に入ります。準備も殆ど終わりです。

Joshua will move into his dorm at UCLA on Saturday.  Preparations are almost done.

仲良し兄弟３人の一緒の時間もあと２日となりました。。。

Only two days left for three good brothers to enjoy their time together. 

八方尾根 Happo-One

日本滞在中最後の週末に八方尾根に行ってきました。ゴンドラとリフト２つに乗って。。標高1830m地点へ。。
On our last weekend in Japan, we went to Happo-One.  We took a gondola and two ski lifts and reached altitude1830m spot.

雪の上も歩いたり。。。 Walked on the snow.....

結構雲があって、まわりの山が見えなくて残念でした。

There were too much clouds and couldn't see the mountains around.  :-(

写真を撮りたくなっちゃう素敵な場所がいっぱい。

ここは八方池。あの向こうに綺麗な山が見えるはずなんだけどな〜。。。
Here is Happo Pond.  Supposed to be able to see beautiful mountains there, but....

MacBook Pro

 よしあとりきに新しいコンピューター、Mac Book Proを買いました。届いた時の笑顔と興奮と言ったら、３歳児がクリスマスの朝にプレゼントを開けた時の様でした。
We bought Joshua and Riki brand new computers, Mac Book Pros.  The excitement and the smile on their faces when the computers were delivered was just like three year old kids opening Christmas gifts on Christmas morning.

 よしあのMacBook Proのためのケースを作りました。I made a case for Joshua's MacBook Pro.

りきには後で作ってあげます！I will make one for Riki later.

帰ったよ。Back home.

こちらは、日本の実家の最寄り駅で電車を待っているところです。１９日にアメリカに帰ってきました。
We were waiting for a train at the station closest to my parents' house in Japan.  We came back to US on the 19th.

大きなプラムがまだ木になっていました。Some big plums were still on the tree.

 とっても大きくてとっても甘かったです。They were so big and very sweet.

 花もきれいに咲いていました。Flowers were blooming beautifully.

回転寿し Sushi-go-round

日本に帰ったら必ず子供たちが行きたがるのが回転寿し。この日は姪っ子達も一緒。このメンバーで外出すると、わぁ〜子だくさんなお母さんだわぁーといつも人目を引くみたいです。。
Sushi-go-round is the place boys always want to go  when we come back to Japan.  Nieces came along with us that day.   Whenever I go out with those members,  I seem to draw attention because, wow, I have so many kids!  (Families in Japan tend to have less children nowadays.)

鯉 KOI fish

 子供たちは朝５時に起きて魚釣りに。。。

Boys got up at five in the morning and went fishing.

 

そして、よしあが大きな鯉を釣り上げました。

And Joshua caught a big KOI fish. 

多分６０センチくらい。Maybe about two feet.

信州は。。 Shinshu is...

やっぱりそばが有名ですよね〜。昨日は、そば処常念で天ざるをいただきました。美味しかったです〜！！！
very famous for SOBA(buckwheat noodle).  We went to "SOBA JYONEN" yesterday and had TENZARU.  It was GOOD!!!

お茶 Green tea

 お茶を買いに行きました。何種類ものお茶を試飲させていただいて、色んなお茶の味の違いがわかりました。そちらのカフェで頂いた、こちらは抹茶パフェ。
We went to buy green teas.  They let us try all different kinds of green teas, so we were able to learn to taste the differences.   This is green tea parfait. 

黒豆きな粉パフェ。Black bean & soy powder parfait.

抹茶白玉。どれもぜーんぶ美味しかったです。

Green tea ice cream with mochi. They were all so good.

超がっくし。。。Big disappointment....

あ〜〜〜、もう超超ちょ〜〜がっくし。何がそんなにがっくりかって？高校入学祝いに爺ちゃんから買ってもらった時計がどこかへいっちゃった〜〜！！今まで３０年以上もずっと使っていたのに。。ちょ〜〜チョック！！！どこを探してもない。天国へは何も持っていけないんだからと自分に言い聞かせるしかないや。。。(*^*) （ちなみに写真は私が持っていたのと似ているセイコーの腕時計）
Ah~~~I'm so SO So SOOOO disappointed, SO sad.  Why? Because I LOST my SPECIAL watch that was given by my GRANDPA to celebrate my high school entrance.  It's GONE~~!!!  I had it over 30 years.  I'm in shock! I looked everywhere, but I couldn't find it.   I've been telling myself that I cannot bring anything to heaven, so let go........  (*^*)  (btw, those watches look like mine, but they are not mine.)

お裁縫レッスン Sewing lesson

姪っ子達にミシンの使い方を教えてあげました。こちらは５年生のあかねちゃん。
I taught my nieces how to use a sewing machine.  This is Akane who's in 5th grade.

 こちらは３年生のひかるちゃん。This is Hikaru who's in 3rd grade.

こちらはあかねちゃんの作品。とっても上手に出来ましたね!

Those are what Akane made.  She did a very good job!
