 庭にはたけちゃんのジュース用ビーツがすくすくと成長しています。オーガニックですよ！っていうか。。。放ってあるだけですが。。。
Beets for TK's special juice are growing steadily.  They are organic!  Well, it's just that I am not taking care of those much....

 こちらはネクタリン。今年も沢山実をつけました。

Those are nectarines.  This tree is bearing a lot of fruit again.

今朝外を散歩中のカタツムリさん。。ちょっと私が好きな物ではないんですが。。だって、見て見て！この首？身体？の長さ。ぼつぼつした肌？皮膚。。。ごめん。。。気持ち悪〜〜い！！

This morning in the yard, this nail in the midst of morning walk? This sort of creatures are not my favorite.....  because ....  look carefully!!!  The length of its neck? body? and the texture of its skin... Yewww~~~~ (@x@)  sorry Mr. Snail... I don't like you......

 数週間このような状態でした。

It'd been like this for a few weeks.

タンクの内側はこんな感じ。日本でトイレのとってが壊れて直した事なんてありませんでした。アメリカでは色んな修理を自分でする人が多いです。すごいですよね。

Inside the tank looks like this.  I'd never had problem with the toilet tank lever in Japan and I'd never had to repair it myself.  Here in US, many people do repairs by themselves.  I think it's awesome.

 今日、こんなに沢山可愛らしい日本の女の子が出来上がりました。

So many charming Japanese girls were made today.

女性８人が集まって作りました。５月の子供祭りで売る予定です。

Eight ladies got together and made those.  Those are going to be sold at Children's Festival in May.

作る人の個性が、女の子達それぞれの個性になってました。

The personalities of each who made those girls were reflected on each girl.

修理部品 Repair part

I am going to fix something in our house just now.  Can you guess what it is?  I am sure this is such an easy guess for those who are living in US.  Shhh~~~~!!!

お琴と生け花 KOTO & IKEBANA

 昨日はバルボアパークで毎年恒例の日本の生け花と文化展覧会がありました。私たちは日本の伝統音楽を紹介する為にお琴を弾きました。
Yesterday was the ”Annual Japanese Ikebana Flower Arrangements and Cultural Exhibition."  We played Koto to introduce traditional Japanese music.

沢山の生け花が展示してありました。どれも本当に素敵な物ばかり。すごく大きな物もありました。皆さんはどれが好き？私は２番目のものです。だってこんな観葉植物のような植物までも花として？生け花に使うなんて面白いと思いました。
Many Ikebana flower arrangements were displayed there.  All of them were so beautiful.  There were some that were big.  Which one do you like?  I like the second one.  I find it very interesting that they treated this green plant as a flower and used it in this Ikebana arrangement.

２次発酵をさせ過ぎてオーブンに入れた食パン。焼いてる最中ににょきにょきと中身が出てきてしまいました。
I let the dough rise too much (actually, I forgot that I was doing baking..) and put it in the oven.  Then, the dough started to grow out of the pan. 

クッキーデコクラス Cookie Decorating Class

 待ちに待ったクッキーデコクラスの日がやって来ました。ワクワク！上手にできるかなぁ〜？
The long-awaited cookie decorating class was finally here.  So excited!!  Would we do well?

ベースカラーの上に先生が２本の線を引きました。あれあれ。。何になるのかな？
Our teacher drew two lines on a white icing-covered cookie.  Let's see what those are going to be?

素晴らしいクッキー第２章 Amazing cookies Chapter 2

バレンタインにクッキーをくれたお友達がまたまた素晴らしいクッキーを作りましたよ。どうしても写真を送ってと頼み、掲載の許可も頂きました。またまた感動です。このクッキーは私はもらえませんね。。。赤ちゃんをもう一人産んだらもらえるかも。。。(^o^) ありえない。。

The friend who gave me Valentine's Day cookies made those beautiful cookies again.  I begged her to send me a photo and got a permission to put it on my blog.  Wow, I am so impressed.  I cannot, not qualified to receive those cookies.....  well maybe if I had another baby!!  (^o^)  NO WAY!

ビーツの入った野菜ジュースを冷凍した物です。ちょっと前から主人が健康の為に野菜ジュースを作って飲んでいます。特にこのビーツが血圧を下げるのに効果があるそうです。ジューサーは掃除が大変なので、週に１回まとめて作り、小分けして冷凍しています。
a pack of frozen vegetable juice with beets.  My husband started making vegetable juice and drinking it for his health.  Especially the juice made with beet seems to help lower blood pressure.  Cleaning a juicer is a little troublesome, so once a week, he makes enough juice for a week and package them into small portions and freeze them.

春チョコ Springtime Truffles

こんな可愛らしい、春っぽいチョコレートを頂いちゃいました。See's CANDIES社のものです。春って良いですね。全てが新鮮に見えて、生きるエネルギーみたいなものを感じますよね。私は春が一番好きかな〜。もちろん秋！も好きですけど（秋子なんだし）。。皆さんはどの季節が一番好きかしら？
I received such a pretty Springtime Truffle gift.  It's from See's CANDIES.  I love Spring.  Everything looks so fresh and gives me the feeling of vitality for life.  I like Spring the best maybe...  Of course, I love autumn, too! (Akiko means autumn's child.)  How about you?  Which season do you like the best?

やるっきゃない！ Just Do It!

こちらはお琴の楽譜です。先週から新しい曲を始めました。まずは字が多いと目でその字を追うのに一苦労。そして私のちょっと古くてゆっくりになった頭の回路ではその情報を分析するのにやや時間がかかります。分析された情報が末端器官の指に伝わるのにはさらに時間がかかります。あ〜〜。。とにかくやるっきゃないんです。とにかく練習に練習ですね！

This is the music sheet for KOTO.  I started working on a new song last week.  First of all, it is not easy for my eyes to follow the writings(as you can see, Koto's notes are written in Chinese characters) when there are so many characters.  And it takes a little extra time to process all the information, since my circuit in my head is getting a little older and slower.  And it takes even longer for the processed information to finally reach the end user, my finger.  Ah~~~.  Just do it.  Practice, practice and more practice!!

ガソリン価格 Gasoline Price

こちら昨日私がガソリンを入れた時の価格です。日本式にするとだいたい１ℓ８０円。日本は今１ℓ１３０円くらい。だから日本と比べたらまだ安いですよね。皆さんの州もしくは国と比べたらどうでしょうか？

This is the gasoline price I paid yesterday.  $3.679/gallon is about 80yen/liter.  The gas price in Japan is about 130yen/liter which is about $5.97/gallon.   So, gasoline is much cheaper here.  How about the price in your state or country?

学校見学 Campus Tour

土曜日に家族でカリフォルニア州立大学サンディエゴ校を見学に行ってきました。啓安はこの大学に入学願書を出しています。まだ結果は出ていませんがとりあえずどんなところか見に行ってきました。来ていた人は多くが高校１、２、３年生。今頃見に行ってる私たちはちょっとのんびりし過ぎ？って感じでしたが。。在校生が色々説明してくれたり質問に答えてくれたりしたので行って良かったと思います。さて、どうかな？彼は最終的にどこの大学に行くでしょう？

On Saturday, we went to visit UCSD to take a campus tour.  Joshua has applied to this school.  We haven't received the result, but we went to take a look of this school anyway.  Most of the students who joined the tour were freshmen, sophomores and juniors.  We are one of those who are a little laidback.... Current students guided the tour and answered all our questions and I think the tour was worth the time.  Now, let's see which university Joshua will be going?
