面白いケーキ。Interesting cake.

 お友達から思いがけないプレゼントが届きました。そこにはカップとケーキミックスと手順が書かれた紙。
I received a surprise gift from a friend.  Inside, there were a cup, cake mix and an instruction.

 ケーキミックスに卵、牛乳と油を混ぜて。
Adding an egg, milk and oil into the cake mix.

混ぜた後はこんなかんじ。 Looks like this after mixing.

そして電子レンジで３分。Microwave it for 3 min.

じゃじゃ〜〜ん。こんな素敵なお誕生日ケーキが出来上がりました。(^_^)
美味しかったよ！ありがとうブル〜〜ク！

Ta-da~~~!  A cute birthday cake was done! (^_^) It was DElicious!

４７になりました! Turned 47!

ぎゃ〜、４７だって。信じられな〜い。もしも私が木だったら、切ってみたら歳の数がわかる。あ痛たっ！人間もそんな風に歳を証明できる手だてがあるのかしら？しわの数？知恵？知識？白髪の数？なんてね。。

WOOoooooo, 47!!?  I cannot believe it.  If I was a tree, I can tell my age by cutting down Akiko-tree. Ouch!  I just wondered if there is any way we can tell our age without a birth certificate.   Maybe by the number of wrinkles, wisdom, knowledge or gray hair?  No way...

卒業アルバム写真 Senior Picture

この間撮った写真が出来上がってきました。ハンサムでしょ〜〜！！ (^_^)　
ワイシャツとネクタイのせいでしょうかね、いつもよりぐっとかっこいいわ！！

The senior pictures were sent to us today.  Isn't he handsome!!!  (^_^)  It must be the shirt and the tie make him look even more handsome!

忘れてはいけないもの。Things you shouldn't forget.

昨日お友達から素敵なカードが届きました。そこには「忘れてはいけないもの。」がいくつも書いてありました。感謝する心、愛、赦す心などなど。。。でも、まずはこれを忘れちゃあいけませんでしたねーー自分がその時料理をしていたと言う事！！あ〜〜、それで。。また焦げた鍋を磨かなくちゃいけなかったわけです。。。(x_x)

I received a nice card from a friend yesterday.  What's written inside were "the things you shouldn't forget."  Heart of thanksgiving, love, forgiveness and so on...  But first of all, I shouldn't have forgotten THIS-- the fact that I was cooking at that very moment!!!  Sigh... I had to clean the burned pot... (x_x)

可愛い！ So cute!

可愛いカボチャの赤ちゃん発見です。夏前に野菜くずを畑に埋めていました。その中にカボチャの種も混じっていたんですね。

I found a cute little baby pumpkin.  I used to bury kitchen wastes in my garden before the summer.  There must have been some pumpkin seeds mixed in there.

秋です。 It's Fall.

毎日すごく暖かくって、あんまり秋っていうかんじもしないんですが。お店に出ている果物。。柿、林檎、梨、栗。。を見ると秋を感じますね。それで林檎パンを作ってみました。あえてシナモンは入れずに、林檎の味を楽しみました。

It's very warm every day here and it's not like fall. But when I see the fruits like persimmons, apples, pears, chestnuts etc. in grocery stores, I feel autumn is here. So, I made some apple bread. I didn't want to put cinnamon this time to simply enjoy the flavor of apples.

ゆで卵 Boiled Egg

テレビでゆで卵の殻を簡単にむく方法というのをやっていました。新鮮な卵はどうしてもうまくむけないのが普通。しかし、トリックがあるのだそうで、 テレビでやっていた通りに早速実践してみました。そのトリックとは、卵のお尻の方（気室）にひびを入れてから茹でると言う事です。

There was a program on TV which talked about how to remove shells from hard boiled eggs quickly and easily.  Usually, boiled eggs made from fresh eggs are hard to peel.  BUT, there is a trick!  I put that trick in action.  The trick is to make a little crack in air cells and then boil the eggs. 

なんと本当につるっと簡単に殻が剥けましたよ！すっご〜い。ちょっとした事なんですけど、知っているととお〜〜っても作業が楽になりますね。

Wow, it worked!  It was SO easy to peel the shells.  Just a little knowledge can make a big difference in what we do.  

大切に使います Taking good care

私って結構色んな物を大切に使うんですよ。このタオルは結婚前（２０年以上前）に教会のお友達がくれた物です。今でも柔らかくて良い感じ。くれた本人は覚えているかしら？ゆの！あなたよ！！

I like to take good care of things.  This towel was given to me by a friend from a church before I got married (over 20 years ago.)  It's still soft and nice.  I wonder if she remembers.  YUNO!  It's you!!

こちらは高校生の時に友達が私のために作ってくれました。かれこれ３０年前ですよ。ひゃ〜〜、そんなに時が過ぎたか。。。(*O*)

This one was given to me by a friend in high school.  She made this one for me.  Wow, that was 30 years ago.  (*O*)

このビーズは多分小学校か中学校時代から持ち続けてきた代物です。私はクラフト大好き。このビーズがこれまでの数多くの引っ越しを生き残ってきたと言う事はすごい。

I have this beads ever since I was in elementary or middle school.  I love crafting.  It's amazing how many moving this beads survived.

卒業アルバム用写真 Senior Picture

よしあもいよいよ来年の５月に高校を卒業です。卒業アルバム用の写真を撮りにいってきました。こちらはついでに卒業式用の服を着て撮りました。立派に見えますね。
Joshua is graduating from high school in next May. We went to have Senior pictures taken at a studio. This one with the graduation gown was optional. He looks brilliant, doesn't he?!

ヘアカット Haircut

って感じです。シャンプーとブローがすごく楽になりました。
これでまた半年くらい美容院に行かなくても良いかな。。。

This is the "before" & "after" picture. It's SO much easier to shampoo and dry my hair. Now I think I can wait for a half year untill the next visit to a hair salon.
