冷凍庫の底に。。 In the Bottom of the Freezer...

こちらは我が家の冷凍庫。

There was a real big surprise the other day.

なんと、半年くらい前になくしたイヤリングを冷凍庫の底に発見！

イヤリングさんはどうしてこんな所に隠れていたんだろう？

信じられなーい！あちこち探したけど、冷凍庫の中なんて！

To my surprise, I found my a-half-year-long lost earring at the bottom of the freezer!

How did it end up here?  I had no idea!  I looked everywhere in the house at that time when I lost.

Who would have thought of looking into the freezer!

とうとう再会したイヤリングちゃん。♡

山火事 Wildfire

こちらは水曜日に撮った写真。山の向こうから煙がいっぱい！テメキュラから車で１時間弱の何カ所かで山火事です。

This photo was taken on Wednesday.  So much smoke was rising behind the mountain.  Several wildfire started in the areas of less than one-hour drive away from Temecula. 

こちらは今朝撮った写真。煙が山全体に広がって、街の方にも広がってきました。家の周りでも煙の匂いがしています。
This picture was taken this morning.  The smoke spread out over the mountain and started spreading towards our city.  I could smell the smoke in our area.

 こちらは午後の写真。煙が街全体に広がって、早退になった学校もありました。スポーツ活動などはキャンセルです。
This photo was taken this afternoon.  The smoke spread all over the city and some schools sent children back home earlier.  All the sport activities were cancelled.

いつもの綺麗なカリフォルニアの青空は見えません。。。

このところ天候がめちゃ熱くて(38度) 乾燥(湿度23%)。ここ数日の気温は過去最高気温を上回っています。その上突風が吹いていて我が家の裏庭の木製の塀が飛んでいきそうでした。

The weather has been so hot (100F) and dry(humidity 23%) and the last few days' temperature hit the record highs.  The wind was so strong that it almost broke our wooden fence in the backyard.

母の日に感動メッセージ Moving Message on Mother's Day

Joshua: " After living away from you, mom, I have gained an appreciation for you.  I miss your home cooked meals, so I really want to go back home.  Take care!  I am glad that I'm your child.  I look up to you as a strong and caring lady.  One day, I want to become a lady like you!"

Me: "Awww... what a beautiful message!"  "But... 'I want to become a lady like you'?"  "I don't think so...."
Joshua:  "Well....."

Me: "Hmmm...possibly... the last part of the message is copied and pasted from elsewhere?"

Me: "Where are the truth?"

Joshua:  "everything except the last part"

今朝よしあから、感動のメッセージが届きました。。。と思ったら、何かがおかしい。。電話をして問いただしたらやっぱり本人のメッセージではない。「僕は感情を表現するのが苦手だから。。」とか言っちゃって！「母への感動の手紙」でネット検索したそうな。。。でもわざとばれるように最後の所を「女性になりたい。。」なんてしておく所が計算されてる。半分読んだ所で、泣きそうになり。。最後まで読んで爆笑！よしあは母をハッピーにさせる方法を知ってるな！いっぱいいっぱい笑って元気が出ました！

さて。。これをどう英訳するか？？？

I received a moving message from Joshua this morning.  But soon I realized that something didn't sound right, so I called him immediately to question him and found out that the message wasn't written by him.  Saying that he wasn't good at expressing his feelings, Joshua found the message on the web by searching for "a moving letter to a mother."  He on purposely left the last part of the message, "want to be a lady like you", as is,  knowing that I would find out his trick.  Half way into the message, I nearly cried and burst into laughter towards the end.  Joshua surely knows how to make me happy and he surely did.  He brought so much laugher and lifted up my spirit on Mother's Day.

時間が飛んでく。。 Time flies...

なぜか毎日があっという間に過ぎていっちゃう〜！今日は一日何をしたかと振り返っても、大した事はしてないのに〜！
I don't know where all the time goes.  It goes so fast!  Taking a moment, I try to think of what I've accomplished each day, nothing big and particular I've accomplished.

月曜日はおよそ２時間もアイロンがけをした。

 I spent almost two hours ironing shirts on Monday.

 苺とキウイで天然酵母を作った。

I made natural yeast with strawberries and kiwi.

 そしてパンを焼いた。

And I baked bread.

テレビを見ながらランチ。お昼寝はしません！

Watching TV while I eat my lunch.  I don't take a nap! 

身体に良いサムゲタンなども作ってみる。

Made Korean herbal soup that is good for body. 

外に出て庭の手入れをする事は私の日課の一部です。

 Going outside to look after my garden is a part of my daily routines.

 生活に笑いは必需品。ちょっと面白い本も読んでみる。これは五味太郎さんの創作ことわざ絵本。

Laughter is my must-have daily dose of vitamin for life, so I read a book that made me laugh.  It's a book by Taro Gomi.

もちろん、花の女子大生はちゃんと宿題もやります！

Completing assignments is a must for a responsible college student!

最近昔に比べて行動が遅くなったような。。。

何をやっても達成するのに時間がかかってるような。。

Maybe my movements are getting much slower than before nowadays......

and whatever I do seems to be taking much longer to complete....

もう５月？！ May already?!!

長ーーい間持っていた毛糸を使ってこの小さいバッグを編みました。この種類の残り毛糸を使って後いくつかこんなバッグを編もうかな。。やっぱり編み物って楽しい。あ〜、晩ご飯作らないで編み物続けていたいわー (^_^)

Just finished this little bag with the yarns I had for a looooong time.  I might make few more so that I can finish all the left-over yarns of this kind.  Crocheting is fun.  I wished I didn't need to cook dinner and continue to crochet, instead.  (^_^)
