晴れ！！ Sunshine!

美しい朝。お日様におはよう！日差しが強すぎるとか暑すぎるとか文句を言いたくなる事もあるけど、やっぱり晴れっていいな！

Beautiful morning . Good morning to SUNSHINE!! Though sometimes I want to complain about sun being too strong and gets too hot, it's nice to have clear blue sky!

雨雨雨 Rain Rain Rain

ここに越してきて、こんなに雨が続くのは初めてです。１週間ずっと降り続いています．たまの雨は良いですけど、やっぱりこうも続くとね〜〜。
いつもの南カリフォルニアの青空が恋しい。。。。．

It's been raining for a week. We never had this much rain since we moved here. I appreciate the occasional rain, but not this loooong... Now I miss the usual Southern California blue sky!!!


なにかちょっと美味しい物を食べたくなって。。。チーズクッキーを焼いてみました．おいし！
I had a craving for something yummy, so I made this Cheddar Pennies (Cheese cookie.) Yum!



あれ？久しぶりの夕焼け。あわてて外に出て写真をパチリ．
明日は晴れるといいな〜〜！

いまひとつ。。。 So-so.....

グラニースクエアが全部つながってその縁取りもほぼ完成したのですが．．．いまひとつ色が気に入らない．．．ほどこうか？？
All the squares are put together and almost finished the border around them, but I don't like it's colors. thiking of undoing...??

交換 Exchange

昨日フレンドシップブランケットを作っている友達皆が集まって、それぞれのスクエアを交換しました。ほとんどの友達はスクエアを３０枚編みました．でも私の編んだのは１０枚。。。ということで、違ったデザイン、色のスクエアが１０枚集まりました。今度はこれをつなげて、何かにしますが。。。。何にしましょう？？？？何かちょっと中途半端なサイズ．．．．

Yesterday, the friends who's making friendship blankets got together and exchanged granny squares. Most of the friends made 30 squares, but I only made 10. So I exchanged and collected 10 squares in different colors and designes. Now I must connect them together and make them into something.... What shall I do? Ten is not many enought to make somthing big, but not little enough to make something small, you know what I mean??? I don't know.....

算数の問題 Math question

グラニースクエアが数が増えて、鍋敷きがランチョンマットになりました。私が持っている毛糸の色は６色。１つのスクエアを作るのに３色を使います．さてここで算数の問題です。全部で何種類の違った色合わせパターンのスクエアができるでしょうか？正解は次回に。結構大きいブランケットができそうかな？？

The number of granny squares increased and now pot mat turned into place mat. I have yarns in six different colors. I use three different colors to make one square. Here is the math question. How many different squares in different color and pattern cordination am I going to get? I will post the answer next time. I have a feeling that this will be a quite good size blanket?!!

日差しの暖かさ The warmth of sunlight

今日の予想最高気温は２２度。朝１０時、外に出てみたらまだちょっと寒い。でも写真を撮っているうちに背中が太陽の日差しを浴びてぽかぽかしてきた。気持ちいい！

Today's forecast says the highest would be 22C(72F). I went out to the backyard to take some photos around 10am, it was still chilly. But afer a while, the sunlight warmed my back and felt so nice.

今年はレモンが２つだけ。 We only got two lemons this year.

今庭に咲いている花は枇杷の花くらい。。
Loquat flowers are the only flowers blooming in our garden now.

そしてちょっと春の予感．．．And spring is around the corner..

楽しい！ Fun!

これは楽しい！！　色んな色があるから、色遊びが出来て楽しい！！家事の合間やちょっと休憩という時にちょっと編んで足していく。最終的にどんな大きさになるかな？？　わかりませ〜ん。無計画性ブランケット。。。私にぴったりだ。

This is fun! It's fun because I can play with colors as I bought more yarns in different colors. In between the house chores or whenever I feel like I need a break, I will add more squares. How big it's gonna be in the end?? I don't know... Unplanned blanket ..... that sounds just right for me...


いまのところ椅子のはしっこをちょっとカバーできるくらいだな．．．
For now, it only covers tiny area of a chair...hmmmmmm

15才 15!

お誕生日おめでとう理輝！！

理輝はチョコレートが好き。だから今日のお誕生日ケーキはガトーショコラ。とても濃厚で大変美味しかったです。

Riki likes chocolates, so today's birthday cake is Gâteau au chocolat. It was so rich and delicious!!

肩こり Sore shoulder

ちょっと映画を見ながら編み物を続けていたら、肩こりがひどくなった。コンピューター、クロスステッチ、編み物、お琴とどれも右肩を使うことばかり．．．そこで台湾で買ったこの機械が登場。ほぐれるわぁ〜〜。誰か他の人がやってくれたらもっといいんだけど。。。。

I was crochetting while we watched a movie last night, then I got sore shoulders. All the things I do, computer, cross-stitch, crochet and KOTO use the right arm and shoulder.... Then, I remembered this super machine we bought in Taiwan. It helps loosen my shoulder muscles. It'll be even better if somebody else holds it for me!!

この花、１９個作ったらほぼ完成．もうちょっとだな。。。
I supposed to make 19 of those flowers. Few mores to go!

新年 New Year

明けましておめでとうございま〜〜〜す！！！今年もよろしくお願いします！

やっぱり正月は餅！朝から餅をついて（機械でね）のりとあんこで食べました。また食べ物のことばかりね．．今年はもう少しバラエティーにとんだ記事にしないと．．．

On a New Year's Day, I have to have MOCHI (sticky rice cake), so I made it this morning (using the machine.) Sweet redbean paste and soy sauce with Nori. Again I am writing about food. I must write more about different activities....

大晦日 The New Year's eve.

今年最後のブログはこれ。年越し手打ちうどん。そば粉が手に入らなかったので、中力粉でうどんを作りました。

The last post for this year is this; homemade year end Japanese Udon noodles. (We Japanese have a custom to eat SOBA noodles on New Year’s Eve. I couldn't get SOBA flour, so I used all pourpose flour and made Udon noodles. )

よくこねて。 Knead well.
